Our new valve Pre-Amplifier SM-100 is a "world first" in many aspects.
1)
The RIAA part of the amplifier is designed as a direct connection from RCA phono input to the grid wire lead inside the glass envelope of the triode !
It can not be shorter and more straight forward than this.
2)
The volume control is a 64 position constant z-input attenuator, made of only 6 signal switching points and a total of 13 resistors. Precision is better than +/- 0,2dB over the entire dynamic audio range.
3)
No global feedback/output to input are used. Only local degeneration and "in between" two stage feedback are employed.
4)
Special designed shunt regulated power supplies are used for all triodes. All filaments are regulated for lowest possible drift and noise.
5)
All stages are Single End topology and carefully selected NOS triodes.
( Runs in class A, that goes without saying )
6)
The RIAA amplifier is a constant current input triode cascade driving a passiv RIAA filter. ( No feedback filter )
Output of RIAA is a medium gain no feedback triode.
Three triodes in total per channel.
7)
Line stage channels can be selected for sensitivity input of 0dB , -6dB, -12dB or -18dB. The line output stage is a triode coupled to line output
transformer, capable of driving loads lower than 600 Ohms.
It will drive any known power amplifier. Long cables present no issues, due to the very low output impedance.
This is all just a little about the new SM-100. The most unusual aspects and features of this pre-amplifier must remain a secret until it will be released.
We expect the retail price to be around EUR 4000,- ( Before VAT )
It is planned to be introduced in the first half of 2019.
