Ultrasound? Camera? Laser? 🤔

You've got options, to measure a bin's fill level. But we chose radar — on purpose.

A bin is one of the harshest places for a sensor: dust, steam, moisture, biofilm, cobwebs, ever-changing contents. And that's exactly where most technologies start to struggle. Ultrasound gets thrown off by temperature swings, steam and foam. A camera needs light, gets dirty fast and immediately raises privacy concerns. And a laser? It's quickly blinded by dust and a grimy lens.

Radar measures straight through dirt, steam and deposits:
🔹 Maintenance-free — no cleaning or site visits necessary.
🔹 No privacy concerns — no camera lens means no photos taken.
🔹 Reliable in heat, frost and damp — data you can trust every day.

That's why every BrainyBin sensor runs on radar. 📡

Autumn coffee break with a view. ☕🍂

Our Islu.keramik Brainy Bins mugs are out, the trees are turning yellow, and outside the bins are busy tracking the bin's fill levels, so we can enjoy a proper break!

What not to put in a bin 🗑️ 🚫

Plastic in the can bin? Cans in the plastic bin? Please don't! 🚫 Waste belongs in the right bin - and never in nature. 🌱

Because what you toss where really matters:

✅ Better sorting — Plastic, metal, glass and paper only recycle if kept apart. One wrong item can spoil the whole batch.
✅ Smarter sensors — Correctly filled bins give fill-level sensors clean, reliable data. That means collection routes get optimized and trucks only roll when bins are actually full - less fuel, lower cost, fewer emissions.
✅ Cleaner nature — Less pollution and fewer resources wasted in a more pleasant environment.

Bottom line: Sort it, and trash becomes a resource. Mix it, and it's just garbage.

So when in doubt, sort it out! ♻️

🌍 World Cleanup Day: 3 Simple Tips to Reduce Waste

Yesterday the world came together to clean up our planet. But lasting change starts long before the litter appears, with how we handle waste every day. Here are three easy ways to make a difference:

1️⃣ Refuse single-use 🥤
Say no to disposables where you can: reusable bottles, bags, and cups add up fast. The best waste is the waste that's never created.

2️⃣ Sort it right ♻️
A few seconds of proper sorting keeps recyclables out of landfill. Learn your local rules: clean, dry, and separated makes all the difference.

3️⃣ Don't let bins overflow 🗑️
Overflowing containers mean litter, pests, and wasted collection trips. Smarter, data-driven waste management (like what we build at Maacks 😉) keeps bins emptied at the right time!

Small habits, big impact. However you're marking World Cleanup Day, thank you for helping keep our world a little cleaner. 🌱

Brainy on tour! 🚛🇩🇪

Last week we joined the VKU Annual Conference of the northern federal states in Hamburg. The programme was packed with talks around the supply and waste management sector. As part of the innovation forum, we had the chance to present our BrainyBins and get into great conversations. 💡

From there we headed to the Akademie Dr. Obladen in Bochum, who invited us to their Urban Cleanliness experience exchange; a Friday full of conversations, talks, and fresh impulses all around municipal cleaning. 🧹

A week all about valuable exchange, learning from others, and taking home plenty of fresh impressions from Germany!

No matter the bin - BrainyBins measures it! 📏

Small park bins, sunken containers or large waste tonnes; general waste, paper, organics or any other material. ♻️

It doesn't matter what or how big the container is, BrainyBins measures the fill level. Reliably, automatically, in real time. ⏱️

Bag or no bag, we can still measure it. ✅

Rain, heat or frost; it keeps measuring. ✅

One sensor fitting every bin. ✅

Come along behind the scenes of our summer party at Maacks!☀️🥳

The weather didn't exactly show a high "fill level" of sunshine, so we simply moved our summer party into the office. Between darts, cricket and indoor golf, there was plenty of friendly competition and laughter plus great food and a cozy evening together.🍻
There were also various awards throughout the night, and even crowned the evening with our very own Oscar🏆

Good vibes: detected!

Storytelling: How a pilot project in Stadt Stralsund made overflowing bins a thing of the past 🗑️📡

Let's rewind to the beginning: Stadt Stralsund was one of the first BrainyBins® projects in Germany — so here's a look back at the pilot phase!

As part of a smart-city pilot, the city equipped 35 public waste bins in its historic old town with BrainyBins® radar sensors. The sensors measure fill levels and signal the exact moment a bin actually needs emptying — no guesswork, no fixed calendar dates anymore.
And just after just a few months, the numbers spoke for themselves:

✅ 71% fewer emptyings (down from 1,548 to 445 per week)
✅ 54% fewer kilometres driven
✅ 30% less working time – freed up for other tasks

Instead of emptying twice a week on a fixed schedule, bins are now emptied only when they're truly full. Fewer trips, less diesel, less CO₂ – and the smartest route delivered straight to a tablet.

Stralsund's verdict? A "technical marvel" – and a clear go-ahead to continue the project and roll out with even more sensors! 🚛♻️

🧠 BrainyFact

Did you know that the world's 3rd-largest brewing group runs on b**r — and on the BrainyBins platform? 🍺📡

Carlsberg — a Danish multinational brewer — brews some of the world's most iconic b**rs. Behind the scenes, our BrainyBins platform delivers clear, actionable data across their entire operations.
And here's the exciting part: BrainyBins goes far beyond container monitoring. Fully customizable and adaptable, the platform brings data from across operations, locations and countries together in one international system — making everything visible, structured, and easy to act on. 📊

The result? Streamlined processes, smarter use of resources, and more sustainable operations from end to end. 🌱

Already running across France and all of Denmark, BrainyBins is helping turn everyday operations into truly data-driven ones. 🌍

When you're this good at brewing b**r, your operations deserve to be just as smart. 🍻📡
