That discipline is embedded in our quality system. The spectrometers that passes qualification is manufactured the same way as the one we ship to our customers.

Have you heard about Prototype 3b2?

Probably not — but the story is worth telling.

More than 25 years ago, when spectrometers were typically designed for indoor use in well‑protected laboratory environments, Ibsen set out to build a spectrometer that could withstand truly harsh conditions. In fact, our very first spectrometers were intended for operation inside offshore wind turbines.

This challenge forced us to carefully select and rigorously test assembly methods, optical designs, and material combinations to ensure the spectrometer could survive temperature swings, high humidity, vibration, and mechanical shock.

Prototype 3b2 was the first design to pass all environmental tests, and every spectrometer we have built since then builds on the experience and engineering principles established with 3b2.

Swapping Screens for the Forest: The Ibsen Photonics Forest Run/Walk 2026!

Last week, we stepped away from our desks and into the forest for the Ibsen Forest Run/Walk, an orienteering event that brought our team together in a unique and refreshing way.

For those unfamiliar, orienteering is a navigational sport that challenges participants to navigate diverse terrain using only a map and compass. Beyond physical activity, it emphasizes strategy, teamwork, and precision - qualities that translate seamlessly into our professional lives.

As first-time participants for many of us, the event offered the flexibility to run or walk, with a shared focus on fostering collaboration and sharpening our problem-solving skills. It was more than just a day outdoors, it was an opportunity to strengthen connections, enhance teamwork, and experience the value of working together in a new setting.

We are especially grateful to our colleague Lenette Stenholt Nielsen, who has previously won championships across various divisions, and to our CEO Henrik Skov Andersen, an active participant in the sport, for sharing their passion and expertise. Their leadership made the event a success, and we are already looking forward to making this an annual tradition.

Celebrating 35 Years of Ibsen PhotonicsIbsen: A Day of Global Spirit and Teamwork!

This June, we gathered at our Farum headquarters for our summer party with a World Cup theme, as well as to celebrate 35 remarkable years of Ibsen. Our colleagues embraced the global spirit, dressing to represent their countries of choice and enjoying a day filled with games, laughter, and meaningful conversations. Although we didn’t play football, the competitive energy was alive in our outdoor and indoor activities. Yes, we had so much fun that we forgot to take a group photo. Next time, we will be sure to capture the moment.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this milestone celebration special. Here is to many more years of teamwork, innovation, and shared joy.

The Road to 7,215.87 km: Our "Vi Cykler til Arbejde" 2026 Journey!

For the whole month of May, our team at Ibsen Photonics once again embraced the challenge of "Vi Cykler til Arbejde", the annual initiative that encourages sustainable and healthy commuting in Denmark. Since 2023, we have been part of this inspiring movement, and this year, we participated with three dedicated teams and 28 passionate cyclists.

Together, we covered an impressive 7,215.87 kilometers. This effort placed us at number 9 among 28 companies in the Farum Municipality, a testament to our commitment to making a difference, one pedal stroke at a time.

The event was not just about the distance. It was about the shared experiences, the small victories, and the fun moments along the way. This year some of our colleagues, led by our VP of Sales, Bjarke Rose, tackled a gruelling 26 kilometer uphill ride, earning what we playfully called “The Real Devils Hill Badge”. And of course, no cycling challenge at our office is complete without cake. Our workplace has been filled with sweet treats almost every week, making the biking just a little bit harder but a lot more enjoyable.

At Ibsen we believe that when efficiency matters, it extends beyond our work. It is about how we approach every aspect of our lives, including our commute. We are proud of our team’s dedication to promoting a healthier lifestyle and reducing our carbon footprint, all while having a bit of fun.
