The Road to 7,215.87 km: Our "Vi Cykler til Arbejde" 2026 Journey!

For the whole month of May, our team at Ibsen Photonics once again embraced the challenge of "Vi Cykler til Arbejde", the annual initiative that encourages sustainable and healthy commuting in Denmark. Since 2023, we have been part of this inspiring movement, and this year, we participated with three dedicated teams and 28 passionate cyclists.

Together, we covered an impressive 7,215.87 kilometers. This effort placed us at number 9 among 28 companies in the Farum Municipality, a testament to our commitment to making a difference, one pedal stroke at a time.

The event was not just about the distance. It was about the shared experiences, the small victories, and the fun moments along the way. This year some of our colleagues, led by our VP of Sales, Bjarke Rose, tackled a gruelling 26 kilometer uphill ride, earning what we playfully called “The Real Devils Hill Badge”. And of course, no cycling challenge at our office is complete without cake. Our workplace has been filled with sweet treats almost every week, making the biking just a little bit harder but a lot more enjoyable.

At Ibsen we believe that when efficiency matters, it extends beyond our work. It is about how we approach every aspect of our lives, including our commute. We are proud of our team’s dedication to promoting a healthier lifestyle and reducing our carbon footprint, all while having a bit of fun.

Cheering for Marc Bernet Garcia: A True Ibsen Success Story!

At Ibsen Photonics, we believe in lifting each other up because success is built on collaboration and a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Today, we want to highlight Marc Bernet Garcia, who will soon defend his PhD thesis on “High Volume Nanofabrication of Advanced Transmission Gratings.”

Marc joined Ibsen in 2023 for his Master’s project, and we have been fortunate to have him stay with us for his PhD journey. His dedication, curiosity, and hard work have not only advanced our research but also embodied the spirit of teamwork that defines our company culture. After his PhD, Marc will continue his journey with us as a Grating R&D Engineer, bringing his expertise and passion to new challenges.

In the photo, Marc is joined by our colleagues Kristian Buchwald, Lars Bo Madsen, Thomas Sørensen, and Dines Erschens, who supervised him throughout his PhD. This is a reflection of the strong bonds we build at Ibsen. Their presence speaks to our culture, where mentorship is a priority and every milestone is a collective achievement. A Glimpse into Life at Ibsen: Where Engineering Passion Comes to Life!

At Ibsen Photonics, we believe the best work happens when passion meets purpose. There’s a special kind of energy that fills the room when an engineer gets to work on something that truly matters. Jonas Bundgaard Mathiassen, one of our Grating R&D Engineers, has been living that energy as he immersed himself in a project to speed up the production of our transmission gratings. For months, he worked hard to build a new advanced metrology tool that will significantly boost throughput for our volume customers.

For Jonas, this is what engineering is all about. Moments like these are why he became an engineer−the thrill of hands-on problem-solving that makes a real difference, not just for Ibsen, but for the customers who rely on our technology. He’s now looking forward to finalizing the setup and moving it into our clean room in Farum, where it will soon be running at full speed.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

The end of the year was incredibly busy for us. We worked hard to finalize customer orders, produce spectrometers and gratings, handle shipping, and prepare marketing materials before the Christmas break. Despite the hectic schedule, our colleagues went above and beyond to bring hygge to the office. This year, we even had a special visit from the elf, who admired our festive decorations. A heartfelt thank you to all our colleagues for your dedication and hard work!

As we approach the festive season, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our warmest Christmas greetings to all of our customers and suppliers. The holiday season is a time of reflection and gratitude, and we are thankful for your continued collaboration throughout the year.
