Races of EoB:
Vargul; Original race. These elusive and secretive beings are moonworshippers. They live in a shamanistic type of society, and are fond of the nature and peace. They can transform into a huge wolflike creature, named a Varg. Though they're peaceloving by nature, they have learned through dire cost that even those tht do not live by the sword can easily die by it, and have therefore learned to not only fight by all means, but also use their magic and shapeshifting in combat.
The Elven races:
Silvanesti; Original race. These tall and beautyfull beings represent the pinnacle of Elven society, and are well aware of it. They have an acute affinity for the arcane, but also have a deepseated respect for nature. They have created a very caste-based society for the Elves, with themselves at the top of the foodchain, which makes the system quite stagnant, as the Silvanesti are immortals (as in, they don't die from aging). In Elvish, the term Silvanesti, means Silver-Elf. The term comes from them always having silvercoloured hair, aswell as a pale complexion.
Qualinesti; Descendant race. The middle class of elven society consists of a race descending from the Silver-elves. This branch of the elven nation somewhat lost the inherent ability to use magic, atleast on the same scale as the Silvanesti, but instead became extremely adept at using weapons, be it a bow, sword, axe, mace, spear or sling. Like the silvanesti, they are immune to the effects of time, but are easily recognisable due to their slightly darker complexion, and coloured hair.
Darkonesti; The last branch of the Elves, and again a descendant race. These are the workers and artisans of the elven society, and are considered the lowest class of it. The Darkonesti have almost lost their magical abilities, but have instead over time become some of the best artisans the world of Shandoz has seen. Like the other elven races, they are untouched by age. The Darkonesti are easily distinguishable by their dark, almost black, skintones, and their dark hair.
The Draconian nation:
Draconian; Original race. These towering lizardlike beings are the masters of anything regarding fire and death. They have made themselves into the leaders of Draccan society, by pure brute force and ironwill. With their natural mastery of magic, and their natural resilience due to their strong scaly hides aswell as their immunity to aging, noone within Draccan society disputes the power of this race.
Ogre; Descendant race. The Ogres are the main bullwark in the defense of the Draconian nation. They're true behemoths to behold, but what they have in size and strength, they do lack in brainactivity. Magic is a word they cannot even spell (pun intended), and as they also lack the agelessnes of the Draconians they know they will not ever reach the pinnacle of the society. As they're born for fighting, no Ogre has ever craved that anyways, as they merely enjoy bashing in the skulls of their enemies with ease.
Orc; Descendant race. These smaller siblings to the Ogres make up for their smaller physique by their way more advanced skills. The Orcs are both quite adept at wielding magic AND swinging a sword, axe or mace. They're the jack-of-all-trades of the Draconian society, as they can be found in any position from leading workshops, to teaching magic. Like their larger siblings, they lack the immunity to aging that the Draconians are born with, but that only makes most Orcs strive to leave behind a strong legacy to be remembered by.
Goblin; Descendant race. These small creatures are the workers and artisans of the Draccan society, and make up the lowest cast of it. they have few skills in using any weaponry, and the same goes for their magical skills. The mainthing about them is their unrivalled skills in construction. Almost all Draccan mines are deep underground, and they're all made by Goblins. If you ever need any tunneling or mining done, you want Goblins for it!
Humans; Descendant race. The Humans where once elves, but where exiled from the Elven lands, either because of crimes or for lacking magical abilities. As they where driven from the Elven lands and thus wheren't as close to the Rift, they changed over time, and became slightly smaller and more stocky. As the Humans where once from all different positions in the Elven society, they brought all those skills with them, and they're therefore the most versatile race on Shandoz.
Dragons (NPC-only); Descendant race. Originally the Dragons where Draconians that got captured by the Elves during the first wars around the Rift. The Elves experimented on them, bending their minds and body into something new, using the raw arcane powers from the Rift itself, and transformed them into huge semi-elemental beings. Most Dragons have lost all forms of communication, though they still innately recognize the difference between Draconians and Elves, making it harder for a Elf to get close to a Dragon. As semi-elemental beings, the Dragons draw their powers from either the sun, if they're firebreathers, or the moon if they're frostbreathers. As they're descending from the Draconians, and further juiced up with the raw arcane powers of the Rift, they're not only ageless, but also very hard to kill. Taking on one of these behemoths whould be su***de unless in a LARGE group.
