Everything has changed in healthcare, except for patient consultation which has remained the same since the time of Hippocrates. The problem is that medical professionals see tens of thousands of patients during their careers, but they do it alone, with little to no help, carrying the burden and the risk of mistakes in solitude. Still, every difficult patient journey starts with a consultation tha

t either was lacking, happened too late, or didn't happen at all, and the stress and blame can be hard for one individual to carry. To shield from pressure, our sophistication has turned to fragmentation through documentation, which has led to medical professionals spending half their day looking at charts, notes, and computer screens instead of in the eyes of patients. Corti was founded in 2016 to give healthcare professionals a set of supportive tools that transcend today's time-consuming technologies. Unlike every other vendor in healthcare, we do not want to bring yet more screens and technology but a way to leave them behind, as we are building bleeding-edge artificial intelligence to enhance humans and remove the clutter of administrative processes. Corti's team encompasses some of the world's brightest data scientists, developers, designers, and creators, all choosing to be here to give healthcare professionals more time with patients and less time looking at a screen.

"The most beautiful thing about AI is that it can help automate the rudimentary work of the healthcare worker. Why should a doctor sit and document for up to 50% of their time?"

Today's healthcare system demands too much documentation and not enough patient care. We're changing that with AI that acts as a second brain for clinicians: handling paperwork, prompting critical questions, and surfacing key insights in real-time.

In this episode of Under the Microscope, Corti's CTO, Lars Maaløe, shares his vision for how specialized AI is transforming healthcare delivery.

This season brings added intensity to the challenges healthcare professionals face year-round. With clinicians working at capacity and administrative tasks consuming a third of their time, the strain is unavoidable.

But there is room for optimism. While 41% of clinicians cite administrative work as their greatest challenge, recent insights show that 81% believe real-time support could help ease the burden.

As the holidays highlight the demands of healthcare, we reflect on the importance of thoughtful solutions that truly support clinicians.

What already happens year-round becomes amplified during these weeks, when hospital systems are already operating at maximum capacity and every team member feels the strain of stretched resources and heightened medical needs. Discover the research, stories, and trends shaping the future of AI.

“When politicians say we need more feet on the ground, where are we going to take those people from?”

Important question from Henric Carlsson during CortiCon, highlighting the critical issue of resource shortages in healthcare.

With an increasing number of elderly patients and a shortage of healthcare professionals, it’s clear that relying solely on staffing solutions isn’t feasible.

The urgency is clear: to ease the burden on healthcare professionals, we must implement more reliable and trustworthy solutions.

Unpacking a critical topic: How trustworthy and reliable are current AI solutions in healthcare?

”We need to have respect for the end user that is using Corti. We do that by understanding when even our AI doesn’t know. Because when we’re able to tell the doctor that, that something may have a 5% probability of being not correct, then we build a better trust in our system”

“As a doctor, you’re constantly going around to your colleagues for a second opinion to see if you’re missing anything, especially in a tough patient case. Soon we are probably going to be able to ask an AI to help us with that, making it easier.”

Today, Lasse Krogsbøll is a Clinical Product Specialist, guiding the evolution of Corti's healthcare AI. But for the better part of the last decade, you would have found him in the operating room at Bispebjerg Hospital performing complex gastrointestinal surgeries.

With 14 years of clinical experience and a Ph.D under his belt, Lasse foresees AI innovation making it easier for new doctors to come through the ranks.

“When I was a new doctor, we would have this little book in our pocket which was like a condensation of the entire medical field. It’s really difficult, you have to remember so much, and modern medicine is far too big for a single human brain,”
