A lot of what keeps a library running never gets noticed 📚

Sorting returns, keeping the shelves in order, fixing the jammed bookdrop, again.

Even though it's not glamorous work, and even though most patrons rarely think about it, it's what makes a good library visit possible.

We think about that a lot 🤔

The equipment we build isn't just software and hardware, it's part of what lets staff spend less time on that kind of upkeep and more time with their community ⌛

That's the part of the job we care about most: giving staff a bit more time back for the people they're actually there to help.

What if patrons could pick up their holds at 9 PM on a Sunday? 📚

Library hours and patron schedules don't always line up.

A hold that's ready on Tuesday morning doesn't help the commuter who can only stop by after closing time 🕒

Happy International Day for Universal Access to Information! 📖

Every year on September 28, this day is a reminder that knowledge isn't something everyone has equal access to.

Where you're born, what you can afford, and how you read still determine how much of the world's information is within reach 🙋🏻

Libraries exist to change that.

Free access to books, research, and reliable information, regardless of income, education, or background.

Somewhere you can walk in with a question and walk out with an answer, no paywall and no need to already know where to look 👀

That kind of access is easy to overlook when you've always had it. For a lot of people, having somewhere open and free to turn to still makes all the difference📚

What does expertise even mean when it comes to library technology? 🤔

Sometimes it means knowing how to bend, twist, and tailor a standard solution to fit a historic building.

That was the case with Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, when they decided on a self-service locker solution for their reading rooms.

Working within the constraints of old, preservation-worthy buildings while still giving patrons a modern, intuitive experience is no small feat, but we loved the challenge.
