In this interview, Mark Stanley, CPTO at Shopware, shares a simple piece of advice for navigating this shift: stay inquisitive.

Explore the technology. Experiment with new tools. Use AI to understand how customer discovery is changing. The data is already showing the impact: businesses embracing these tools are seeing traffic increase.

Agentic Commerce is not about replacing people. It is about removing the repetitive decisions that slow commerce down. But what can commerce agents actually do?

In B2C, commerce agents go far beyond product recommendations. Imagine your weekly grocery shop assembling itself: an AI agent understands your family's dietary preferences, checks what's in season, applies loyalty points, avoids out-of-stock products, and even adjusts the basket because guests are coming over this weekend. 🛒

In B2B, the impact goes even further. A procurement agent can compare suppliers, apply purchasing rules, negotiate terms, place orders, and update internal systems automatically.

Less chasing. Less copy-pasting. Less “Who approved this again?” 😅

That is the real value of Agentic Commerce: it reduces repetitive decisions and operational overhead, so teams can focus on the work that actually moves the business forward. Commerce is moving from searching and clicking to asking and delegating.

How far do you think Agentic Commerce will go in B2C and B2B?

What if your online store became more than a place to buy?

For MissPompadour, that question is shaping the customer experience.

By connecting its mobile app with its Shopware store, the team is creating a space where customers can shop, find inspiration, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. Because sometimes the most valuable part of commerce happens around the purchase: the confidence to get started, the knowledge to do it yourself, and the community to help along the way.

🎥 Hear Niklas Lütteken from MissPompadour explain why the app and its community play such a central role in their Shopware experience.

Agentic Commerce Spotlight: Agentic commerce is having its moment. But there’s an uncomfortable truth accompanying the movement: the biggest bottleneck is probably not the AI. It’s the systems behind it.

Because agents need reliable, up-to-date data, accessible APIs, clear permissions, and open, interoperable systems to work effectively. They need context that can move across tools and processes without breaking.

In other words, technical readiness starts with architecture and data, not with the model itself. 💾

That’s the real foundation of agentic commerce. If your systems are closed, fragmented, or outdated, even the smartest agent will struggle.

What do you think: are most businesses still focusing on the wrong layer?

How businesses can build the right foundation for agentic commerce is one of the main topics of our whitepaper “Agentic Commerce — First-mover advantage”. Find out what you need to know and do now and download it here: https://okt.to/dwsWOr

For many businesses, payments are still viewed as what happens after the sale. We believe they've become something far more strategic. How you manage payments impacts everything from conversion and cash flow to operational efficiency and international expansion. Yet they're often discussed only in terms of payment methods or transaction fees.

Our latest white paper, The Strategy of Payments: Designing the Financial Control Layer of Modern Commerce, explores why payment strategy deserves a place in every leadership conversation.

Inside, you'll discover:

➡️ Why payment architecture has become a strategic business decision
➡️ How authorization, settlement, and reconciliation influence business performance
➡️ The role of embedded payments in reducing operational complexity
➡️ Why the future of commerce depends on connected financial operations

Whether you're a merchant, partner, or digital commerce leader, we hope this paper offers a new perspective on one of the most important – and often underestimated – layers of modern commerce.

Is your business ready for agentic commerce?

For ecommerce businesses, agentic readiness is an organisational capability. If you want to start, don’t try to automate everything at once. Start small and measurable:

➡️ A low-risk use case with clear business value
➡️ Audit your data, systems and APIs
➡️ Define exactly what the agent can decide and execute
➡️ Build in approvals, logs and human intervention
➡️ Scale only when value and control are proven

The goal is not maximum autonomy from day one. It is to build trust, learn where agents create real value and establish the right boundaries before expanding their role. That is the pragmatic way to move from experimentation to meaningful business impact.

Because the question is no longer whether agentic commerce will matter. It is whether your business is ready to adopt it responsibly. 🤖

🚨 New EU guarantee requirements are coming. Is your online store prepared?

From September 27, 2026, merchants selling physical goods to consumers in the EU will face new information requirements around legal guarantees and qualifying producer durability guarantees.

Two new standardized labels are at the center of the change:

🔹 The legal guarantee notice: Informing consumers about their statutory guarantee rights
🔹 The GARAN label: Applying to products with qualifying producer durability guarantees of more than two years

With Shopware 6.7.14, native support for both labels is coming directly to the Shopware core across all plans, including Community Edition. 🛠️

For merchants, now is the time to review product and guarantee data, clarify guarantee terms with producers, and understand which products may be affected.

We’ve broken down what’s changing, who it affects, and how Shopware supports the technical implementation in our latest blog post.

Agentic Commerce Spotlight: Agentic Commerce marks a real shift in how digital commerce works. 🤖

Traditional automation reacts to inputs. Agentic systems work differently: they are given a goal and actively move toward it, making decisions along the way.

That matters now more than ever.

Why? Because AI is getting better at reasoning, API-first systems make it easier to connect actions across platforms, and customer expectations for seamless experiences keep rising. In other words: the tech stack is finally catching up with the ambition. 🚀

For commerce leaders, this opens up a new layer of efficiency and personalization. Not just faster workflows, but systems that can actually help drive outcomes. Businesses now have to get ready for systems that do more than respond.

Our new whitepaper, “Agentic Commerce —First-mover Advantage," explores how agentic commerce enables AI agents to autonomously support and execute commerce processes, what technical and organizational foundations it requires, and how it may reshape customer journeys, brands, and business operations.

What does "built for B2B" actually mean?

For merchants, it's more than adding business features to a commerce platform. It's about supporting complex buying processes, customer-specific pricing, approval workflows, account hierarchies, and the day-to-day realities of B2B commerce.

In this video, Jelmer Pepping from BUS - Industrial Tools explains why Shopware stands apart – with a clear focus on the needs of modern B2B businesses and continuous investment in the capabilities that matter most.
