The first milestone on our journey to 35 kV has been achieved.

We are proud to announce the successful development of a high-isolation medium-frequency transformer for Solid-State Transformer (SST) applications, realized in close collaboration with Infineon.

This achievement marks an important step toward the next generation of medium-voltage power conversion systems up to the 35 kV isolation class.

● Leakage Inductance: ≈ 150 μH
● Insulation Test Voltage: > 20 kV
● Partial Discharge Extinction Voltage (PDEV): > 14 kV

SUMIDA welcomed District Administrator Raimund Kneidinger at its Erlau site for an exchange on the current situation and the future of ferrite technology in electromobility.

The discussion focused on today’s economic challenges and the importance of reliable industrial policy frameworks for energy-intensive manufacturing in Germany. In particular, the industrial electricity price was highlighted as a key factor for SUMIDA’s international competitiveness.

SUMIDA CEO Klaus Neumeier also emphasized the opportunities arising from shifting global supply chains in the electronics and mobility sectors. Initial successes in new markets underline SUMIDA’s strategic direction at the Erlau site.

The visit was marked by an open and constructive dialogue on the site’s future prospects and SUMIDA’s development in a dynamic global environment.

We truly value the long-standing and trustful cooperation with Landrat Raimund Kneidinger and the District Office of Passau.

After successfully integrating Schmidbauer into the SUMIDA Group last autumn with the acquisition of an 80% stake, we welcomed Dr. Albert Kirchmann, a member of the SUMIDA Corporation Japan Board of Directors, to our Hebertsfelden site.

The meeting centered on strengthening the collaboration between Schmidbauer and SUMIDA, exploring future market opportunities, and pinpointing strategic growth potential for the years ahead. Dr. Kirchmann's extensive international experience provided valuable insights and perspectives that will further refine our strategic direction.

It is also very important to us at SUMIDA that Schmidbauer retains its strong brand and unique DNA. We aim to combine the strengths of both organizations—Schmidbauer’s engineering excellence and SUMIDA’s global reach—to grow together and create tangible added value for our customers.
