Testing in React
Hi everyone!
It has been a while but we are back with a brand new event. This meetup will be focussed around testing the frontend framework React.

In order to check the quality of your product you have to iterate and try your product out. What is a better way than doing this automatically? We will discuss Storybooks as testing environment maintained by Norbert de Langen. Who can show you the capabilities of this framework better than the owner himself! He will talk about how we can write better components using Storybook.

Now that the front-end application is often more complex than the back-end, properly verifying their correctness before deploying an update is very important. Unfortunately testing can take a considerable amount of time and tests can quickly become an unmaintainable mess. Let's see what testing React applications looks like in practice, focusing on pragmatic solutions with a high return on investment. In this talk Gert will cover three types of React application testing and discuss how to make the most out of them.

Finally we will have plenty of room for some food, beers (also non-alcoholic beverages) and fussball.

19.30: Scaling Docker Containers on AWS - Dennis van Valderen

Dennis van Valderen will talk about docker containers on AWS. There is a brief introduction to Docker, what it is and what it can be to you or your organisation. We will then talk about more advanced stuff like docker networks and clusters. We will briefly go over container orchestration tools (ECS/Kubernetes/Docker Swarm). And then we can go over the services that AWS provides for these tools. After talking about these few things there will be a little bit of live coding where we will spin up some docker containers on (you can guess this by now) AWS with the ECS (Elastic Container Service). This is a basic introduction to the combination of Docker and AWS, we will talk about a production ready environment but in the live coding session we will keep it basic.
