What does it actually take to build the industrial metaverse?

It’s not a single technology—and not a one-step process.

It’s a set of fundamentals that need to work together:
• Compatibility — systems need to connect across silos
• Shared standards — data must be understood across tools and platforms
• Insight generation — turning raw data into something actionable
• Ecosystem integration — bringing partners and technologies together

Each step builds on the previous one.

Miss one, and scale becomes difficult.

Get them right, and you create the foundation for more connected, adaptive industry.

What's stopping humanoid robots from scaling in factories?

It's not the hardware. It's the data.

Said Wang Xingxing, CEO of Unitree Robotics in conversation with our CEO Roland Busch, on the challenge the industry is racing to resolve.

Diverse training data is required at scale — it's the missing block preventing humanoids from vast deployment on factory floor.

The path forward requires collaboration, innovation, and massive data collection to prepare robots for real-world conditions.

What role do you think and simulation will play in closing this gap?

Three industries. One theme: innovation through complexity.

At Realize LIVE Americas, we spoke to PepsiCo, Haddy, and Reaction Dynamics about what they're building and how they approach innovation.

From snack foods to robotic 3D printing to rocket design. The work happening across manufacturing, robotics, and aerospace reveals something important: complexity is the norm, not the exception.

These companies are using to work smarter and move faster, whether they're perfecting a chip or launching a rocket.

What's something in your industry that's more complex than people realize?

Over 100,000 cyber-attacks happen every year — and the number keeps climbing.

Attackers are now using AI, moving faster than human analysts can keep up. And with today's industry running on connected systems, efficiency comes with a cost: exposure.

That's why we've built a global cybersecurity network — including dedicated Cyber Defense Centers like the one in Suzhou, China 🇨🇳, where experts monitor industrial networks around the clock.

Here's the game-changer:
* AI works as a virtual analyst, spotting anomalies fast
* Human experts make the final decision
* Up to 40,000 suspicious queries analyzed in just one day

Because in cybersecurity, the real goal?
Knowing before the damage is done.

How is your organization tackling cyber threats?

Europe's most proven locomotive just got a major upgrade. 🚆

We've unveiled Vectron X — a locomotive with an App Store, a Smart Screen in the driver's cab, and near real-time data connectivity.

Nearly 3,000 Vectron locomotives are already in service across Europe. Now, with Vectron X, the platform can evolve over time through software updates and app-based tools.

Drivers get a unified digital workspace. Maintenance teams can detect issues earlier. And operators benefit from less downtime and more efficient operations.

At our newly opened Rail Service Center in Munich, we've invested €250 million to triple maintenance capacity and reduce turnaround times with fully digital processes.

Rail is evolving – and so are we.

PepsiCo is reimagining how factories are built — starting in the digital world before anything moves on the physical floor.

Before a single beam was laid, they simulated everything inside the Siemens Industrial Metaverse powered by NVIDIA Omniverse.

Every machine, conveyor, and operator flow — run through AI simulations until it all worked perfectly. 90% of possible issues caught in the digital world. Throughput up 20%. CapEx down 10–15%.

The future of manufacturing isn't built first. It's simulated.

In June 2024, Harry helped launch one of our many LGBTQIA+ employee networks. Today, it’s grown to 195 members, creating visibility, connection and community across our business.

From supporting Pride events at our key sites to hosting conversations with inspiring LGBTQIA+ voices, the impact of the network goes far beyond the workplace.

Belonging means more than words. It’s about creating space for people to show up fully, every day. For Harry, that means leading with purpose beyond his role.

All of me. All of us. 🌈
