The signal is clear. In the first half of 2026, battery-electric cars made up 20.7% of new car registrations in the EU, up from 15.6% a year earlier (ACEA). More than one in five new cars is now battery-electric.
As electric mobility scales, the real question moves off the road and into car parks, office buildings, hotels, truck depots and residential properties: can these sites handle the growth efficiently?
The International Energy Agency points to well-managed charging as part of the answer, it can lower peak demand, relieve the grid and help integrate renewable energy.
