Large crowds need visibility. Not estimates. 🤙

In this last episode of our Winter Series: Control from the Couch, we look at how telecom mobility data helps cities and event organizers manage crowd movement more safely and effectively.

As Matthias Traub explained back at SCCON, mobility data offers something traditional methods can’t: reliable, aggregated insights based on large coverage and real movement patterns.

This makes it possible to:
balance visitor flows across venues
detect congestion early
support emergency routing
align public transport and access points in real time

All while respecting privacy and operating within clear regulatory boundaries.

What’s your take on improved crowd movement management?

Manufacturing resilience fails where data can’t move. 😈

Flex4Res was an EU Horizon Europe project showing how manufacturing ecosystems can stay operational when disruption hits. By designing the right data architecture from the start! ✅

At its core is a European data space based on Gaia-X and IDS, running on Exoscale as sovereign cloud infrastructure. Partners can securely publish and consume datasets, algorithms and services without giving up control, transparency or ownership.

A1 Digital contributed the architectural backbone: leading the federated catalogue and data-space framework and supporting partners hands-on, from onboarding and self-descriptions to connectors, testing and operational coordination.

The result was evidence-based resilience. Manufacturers can identify weak points, choose reconfiguration strategies and collaborate securely across supply chains without relying on assumptions.

Curious how a Gaia-X / IDS data space could work in your ecosystem?

Analytics shouldn’t force you into one place. They should adapt to where control, latency or regulation demand them. 🌎

That’s why this episode of our Winter Series: Control from the Couch looks at analytics through the lens of choice - cloud, on-prem or both. 🔍

Back at SCCON last year, Christian Paolillo explained a core principle behind data sovereignty: Organizations should stay in control of their data. That includes deciding where analytics run.

With on-prem capable analytics platforms like Exasol, teams aren’t locked into a single model.

They can:
• run analytics in their own data center when rules or sensitivity require it
• use cloud resources where scale and flexibility make sense
• combine both without changing tools or architectures

This hybrid approach turns sovereignty into something practical. Not “cloud or no cloud”, but the right workload in the right place.

Where should your analytics live in 2026: on-prem, cloud, or both?

NIS2 is no longer a future topic: from now on, it’s about ex*****on. 🦾

NIS2 is an EU directive that sets minimum cybersecurity and incident-response requirements for organizations operating critical or important services.

For many organizations, the question right now is “What do we need to check first to create clarity?”

Here are 5 practical checks to help you move from intention to action: an orientation to get ownership and priorities for the EU-wide legislation on cybersecurity right!

Auditors will want to see evidence that controls actually work. 👋
Day by day, incident by incident.

If you want continuous visibility, real-time detection and audit-ready reporting on European infrastructure, a managed SOC can take a lot of pressure off internal teams. 😮‍💨

Want a short scoping call to see where you stand?
Comment “NIS2” or send us a message.

Real-time systems come to life when the right people meet - at Gammaverse on 15 January! ⏰

The event brings together people who care about reliability and flexibility, whether they’re running production environments, live formats or fast-growing platforms. 🚅

We’ll be there to exchange ideas, show how we approach secure, scalable setups and talk about what works in practice when real-time really matters.

And there’s more: Florian Kcrma will be on stage, speaking about Secure Connectivity for a robust IoT.
It’s about treating IoT security as architecture in action: using network-level capabilities from day one and avoiding the typical pitfalls when proof-of-concepts start to scale.

Working on tools or edge workloads?
Tell us what you’re building, and we’ll make sure you meet the right A1 Digital expert on site.

Looking forward to the conversations!

For the FSD Lwerk Berlin Brandenburg gGmbH, digital connectivity isn’t an IT nice-to-have. It’s what keeps education, work and participation running every day. 🙇🏻‍♂️

The FSD Lwerk is a social enterprise and recognized workshop for people with disabilities. Across production sites, service locations, residential areas and support services, people rely on stable and secure digital access to learn, work and communicate. 🗣️

That’s why this episode of our Winter Series: Control from the Couch looks at SD-WAN visibility through a very real use case.

Back at SCCON last year, Peter Langrock explained why “the server is up” isn’t enough in environments like this. When multiple sites, services and sensitive workflows are involved, teams need to see how traffic actually flows.

With SD-WAN visibility, teams at organizations can:
understand which locations are affected when access slows down
spot bottlenecks before people lose the ability to work or participate
act quickly, even with small IT teams and limited on-site resources

This matters especially when networks support educational programs, social services and protected personal data. ✅

If you’re responsible for sites where reliable access truly matters, let’s talk about SD-WAN visibility that helps you act. 💬

A good start to the new year often depends on WHAT you decide to focus on. 🎯

As we move into 2026 🥂, we’re focusing on a few areas where early decisions make a lasting difference. Not just in January, but all year long. 🙂‍↕️

That includes:
• device fleets that stay secure as they grow
• security teams supported by AI, without losing transparency or control
• infrastructure that proves efficiency, compliance and sovereignty in everyday operations

We’ll start sharing the first pilots, lessons and real-world stories very soon.

Until then, here’s to a calm start into the new year. And to choosing focus over noise. 🤫

Which of these themes should we unpack first in January? 😉

29/12/2025

Backups sound reassuring. Restores actually save you. 😉

That’s why this episode of our Winter Series: Control from the Couch focuses on a simple but often overlooked idea: Backup only counts when restore works - reliably, auditable and on European infrastructure.

Marcel Henker touches on how a restore-first approach changes the way teams think about risk.

The key is storing data safely, while knowing that you can bring systems back quickly, compliantly and without surprises.

That means:
GDPR-compliant backup and recovery on EU-based cloud infrastructure
clear audit trails that show what happened and when
integrated endpoint and ransomware protection, not bolted on as an afterthought

Together, backup, restore and endpoint protection form a single line of defense; especially relevant for organizations that need sovereignty, clarity and operational calm.

Quick reality check: When was the last time you actually tested a restore? 🥸

Open source is often talked about as a principle. ✍️
Here’s what it looks like when it turns into real public-sector operations....

This is the second episode of our Winter Series: Control from the Couch, where we turn SCCON insights into short, sofa-friendly briefings you can actually use.

This time, the focus is on GA-Lotse, an open-source solution developed by the Gesundheitsamt Frankfurt together with VSHN and Exoscale.

As Aarno Aukia explains, open source is more than transparency. It’s about choice! ⚖️

Because GA-Lotse runs on Exoscale, the public owner keeps control over:
where data is stored
who operates the infrastructure
how the service is run and scaled

Open source plus European cloud operations makes sovereignty tangible not theoretical. It’s a working example of how public administrations can share software, keep control and still operate securely at scale.

Public administration or municipality?

Happy Holidays from everyone at A1 Digital! 🎄 Before the year wraps up, we want to pause and say thank you.

To our customers, partners and community ... and to everyone at A1 Digital who shaped 2025 with curiosity, care and a lot of problem-solving along the way!

This year was full of big topics and quiet progress.
Ideas tested. Systems improved. Small wins that mattered more than they looked at first glance. 👀

As we head into the holidays, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the people behind the work and to look ahead with clarity and optimism. 🤩

And the next year will be exciting as well. As our CEO Dr. Elisabetta Castiglioni puts it: “My wish for the new year: deliver an enhanced definition of quality that reduces complexity and enables our customers to take their own technology decisions. I want to continue being a trusted technology partner.”

From our digital home to yours:
Wishing you calm holidays and a strong start into 2026.

Digital sovereignty sounds complex. In reality, it comes down to 3 very practical questions. 🙃

That’s why we’re kicking off our Winter Series: Control from the Couch with a short, sofa-friendly 🛋️ briefing on what sovereignty actually means in day-to-day security work.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll turn key conference insights into compact explanations you can watch, save and revisit. Perfect for planning the year ahead without another slide deck.

In this first episode, Thomas Puschacher breaks sovereignty down to its essentials.

🚨 The answer isn’t a single tool. It’s a sequence that works together:

1. See. A Security Operations Center provides continuous visibility.

2. Probe. Pe*******on tests and Offensity scans uncover weaknesses early, using a European-built scanner.

3. Fix: Findings turn into concrete actions; from closing gaps to preparing for requirements like NIS2. 🚨

Together, SOC, Pentesting and Offensity form a security setup that actually holds.

Which part is hardest for you right now: visibility, finding weaknesses or turning insights into action?
