Save the date for Alban Muja’s ALBAN MUJA exhibition 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝗼𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝗼𝐟 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝗺𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 at Reiter | Leipzig.

Opening on Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 4 to 8 pm at Spinnereistrasse 7, 04179 Leipzig. The exhibition runs until 19 December 2026.

For his second solo exhibition at Reiter Galleries, Alban Muja brings together three groups of works in which questions of memory, collective values, and social change become tangible in physical forms. Moving between monument, architecture, and the domestic environment, ‚The Politics of What Remains’ asks what endures, what changes, and how the past continues to resonate in the present.

𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐮𝐣𝐚 (born 1980 in Mitrovica) is a Kosovar visual artist and filmmaker based in Berlin and Prishtina. His artistic practice is strongly shaped by the social, political, and economic processes of transformation in the Balkan region. At the center of his work are history, memory, and socio-political questions, which he relates to contemporary developments in Kosovo. Muja represented the Republic of Kosovo at the 58th Venice Biennale with the project ‚Family Album‘, which addresses displacement and identity. In 2022, he took part in Manifesta 14 in Prishtina. In 2025, he was included in the program of Forum Expanded at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival with the film project ‚Mua besoj më shpëtoj portreti‘ (‚I believe the portrait saved me‘).

With special thanks to the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Berlin KosovoInGermany and the Autostrada Biennale in Prizren Autostrada Biennale for their support of this exhibition.

Wanda Stolle — Loose Ends

Characteristic of Stolle’s work, moreover, is her differentiated handling of tonal values. From a palette reduced to black, white, and a complex spectrum of grays, she develops surfaces in which matte and glossy zones, diffuse transitions, and sharp contrasts converge. These modulated grays do not serve merely an atmospheric function; they are crucial to the spatial organization of the works. Light and shadow do not appear as secondary effects, but as constitutive elements of the work’s genesis.
The new wall sculpture extends these questions into space. The wall sculpture is inspired by Maria Knotenlöserin (Mary, Undoer of Knots), the Augsburg devotional image painted by Johann Georg Melchior Schmidtner around 1700, whose motif of loosening and disentangling is here translated into an abstract, ribbon-like form. At the same time, the work connects to Stolle’s earlier sculptures, whose interwoven movements evoke an impression of suspended dynamism. Made of bent wood and coated with graphite, the object condenses torsion, tension, and folding into a complex spatial figure. As in the drawings, the relation between surface and volume, inner and outer side, contour and mass is not fixed here either, but transformed into a mobile configuration.
The title Loose Ends thus refers not only to a formal vocabulary of the open, the loosened, and the unfinished, but also to a method. Stolle’s works do not aim at formal closure, but at states of suspension in which orders emerge and simultaneously recede again. It is precisely here that their precision lies: in the rigorous probing of those transitions in which drawing shifts into objecthood and sculpture takes shape as their spatial articulation.

On view in Wanda Stolle’s exhibition at REITER | Berlin at Potsdamer Strasse 81B (Mercatorhöfe), running through 7 November.

The work ’Schlemihl reverse’ by 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝗼𝐥𝐥𝐞 translates the earlier piece ’Schlemihl’ into a formal and conceptual inversion. While the original appears as an “image without image” – an empty white surface set against a black ground, functioning as a support yet lacking pictorial content and thus appearing devoid of identity – this configuration is now reversed: a dark, shadow-like graphite surface emerges against a white ground.
The work refers to Adelbert von Chamisso’s Peter Schlemihl’s Remarkable Story (1814), in which Schlemihl sells his shadow and consequently loses his social identity, as the shadow functions as a visible, identity-forming representation.
In ’Schlemihl reverse’, this relation is inverted: the “shadow” does not signify loss, but rather a subsequent inscription. What previously lay outside the image becomes part of its surface. Image-ness thus arises not through representation, but through trace and relation – between wall, image, and environment – and remains indeterminate in its identity.

REITER | Berlin: Spotlight with 𝐉𝐢 𝐖𝐮 and 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐮, on view through 26 September 2026.

“Spotlight” brings together works by Helen Hu and Ji Wu, placing two distinct painterly practices in dialogue. The exhibition highlights shared questions of perception, memory, and relation, while opening up space between two independent artistic voices.

𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐮 Helen Hu (b. 1994, Augsburg) is a German-Chinese painter based in Berlin. She studied New Media Art at the Beijing Film Academy and painting at HFBK Hamburg in the class of Anselm Reyle, as well as at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

𝐉𝐢 𝐖𝐮 Ji Wu 吴吉 (b. 1994, Beijing) has been studying Fine Arts in the class of Jorinde Voigt at HFBK Hamburg since 2023. His paintings consider identity and human existence as something shaped through encounter, memory, and lived experience.
