The exhibition Comfort Zone / Carolin Weinert & Frenzy Höhne
Our comfort zone is our well-being zone. Comfort can also generally be defined as the absence of discomfort, thus the absence of conspicuous unpleasant sensations. It is assumed that the human being constantly compares current situations with previously experienced situations. As long as there are no discrepancies between the experiences and the expectations placed on a particular situation, it is not consciously perceived. Only when differences occur, they are determined in concrete terms.
The work of the two artists, Frenzy Höhne and Carolin Weinert, is circling around this exciting network of great gestures, self-mocking aspects, pugnacity and cynicism, which unleashes the limits of comfort. Through formalization and small shifts in ordinary actions, they produce irritations which refer, with ease and irony, to the consolidation of perceptual patterns and the values and norms of our contemporary society.
