How many types and compositions of nonwoven material are there?

Who knows? At Herrmann, we have tested countless materials in our ultrasonics laboratories around the world. We not only use state-of-the-art measuring equipment, but also our experience from over 30 years of nonwoven material bonding with ultrasonics.

Did you know that pure recycled plastics can also be welded using ultrasonics?

Processing recycled plastics isn’t as straightforward as it might seem. The quality of the material changes with each recycling cycle. That’s why we at Herrmann conducted an in-depth study to determine whether pure recyclate can be reliably welded. And we’re excited to share some great news!

Our research has shown that recycled plastic can indeed be successfully welded with ultrasonic technology. Even better, the bonds created with pure recycled plastic are just as strong as those made with conventional plastics.

This may seem like a small step toward a fully functional circular economy, but it’s a critical move in the right direction.

Nonwoven material can be securely and quickly connected using ultrasonic technology, without requiring any additional joining agents. This significantly reduces the use of chemical adhesives.

Around 40% of the adhesive used in a diaper is required just for fixing elastic threads – that's around 180,000 tons every year!

The right bonding technology is key: We show you how to cut operating costs in diaper production by up to 90%. This is how it's done:

Adhesives are still used for many applications within a diaper to bond nonwovens. This results in high costs for procurement, transport and storage. In addition, the machine must be cleaned regularly, causing unnecessary downtime.

Using ultrasonic technology for bonding nonwoven materials is more efficient. It creates safe connections without the need for any additional joining agents. Cleaning time is almost completely eliminated, as are the heating and curing of adhesives.

This can save up to 90% of operating costs – while at the same time making manufacturing more sustainable.
