At Openelab, we think makers need both. Adrelien took the Lilygo T-LoRa Pager on an urban range test and ran a battery drain test. The hardware impressed, but the current mesh firmware doesn’t make full use of it yet. It’s a useful, hands-on look at what the Pager can do today—and what to consider before choosing it for your next project.

Your node knows where it is. But will you have a map when you’re offline?
GPS coordinates, position sharing and offline maps are three different parts of the setup. Check your sharing settings, and save the map data you need before you go.
Using the Wio Tracker L2 Pro shown here? Prepare a microSD card with offline map files. A little preparation at home beats finding a blank map on the trail.

Salzburg, round three! 🔧
After joining Maker Faire Salzburg Making in Salzburg in 2024 and 2025, OpenELAB is heading back on November 7. Maker Faire has moved to HTBLuVA Salzburg this year, so come find us there, say hello, and tell us what you’re building.
We’re also hosting an M5Stack Fans Meetup during the Faire, with maker project talks, a talk from the M5Stack team, and time to meet fellow builders.

A new batch of Orbbec depth cameras is on its way to Germany 📦

In these boxes: Gemini 305, Gemini 2, Gemini 335 and Gemini 336L. The compact Gemini 305 is designed for close-range, wrist-mounted robot vision; the other models offer different options for 3D sensing and robotics development.
