two is how I’m currently feeling rn 🫠😭
I think it’s time to switch up my approach in how I plan on finishing my PhD.
I’m currently extremely goal focused:
I set goals for different aspects of my work -
💡finish chapter one of results in X days
💡finish working on mathematical model in X days
Despite this working for me for many years, it’s currently not working anymore. I’m setting goals that I think will take a certain amount of time but they take much longer or things pop in out of my control which prevent me sticking to my goals (which is very frustrating 😫).
So instead of focusing on goals I’m going to focus on actual hours I spend working on such tasks.
For example:
I plan to work 7 hours per day on a certain task. This involves no distractions (no emails, no work calls, no social media). Having one overarching goal (spread across a few months/weeks) instead of loads of little ones I don’t achieve.
Instead of:
Thinking I’m working loads per day but realistically only working on my goal for 2 hours of my day.
I guess you you can call it being time -> task specific 🙌🏽
Starting this rn, will let you know how it works for me!
