In the next topic of our Stack FAQ series, we would like to clarify the question of what advantages arise from the use of standardized . Are there any relevant points to consider?

protocol stacks in the area offer numerous advantages that are of great importance in the development and implementation of IoT applications. The most important advantages for us as developers are:

👉 : standardized protocols ensure that different IoT and systems can communicate with each other, regardless of manufacturer or implementation. For device manufacturers, interoperability initially seems to be more of a risk, as they can no longer differentiate themselves from competitors with connectivity. At the same time, however, it is also an opportunity, because customers who have already decided in favor of a competitor in a first round can also be reached on this basis.

👉 : By using standardized protocols, applications can easily be extended to a larger number of devices and without causing compatibility problems. Thus, networks can be easily adapted to changing requirements.

👉 : Standardized protocols offer a high level of security through the use of state-of-the-art encryption and authentication procedures, which is relevant, for example, for sensitive data with personal references.

We'll answer these questions and more in our Stack Basics FAQ section. Take a look and dive into the world of protocol stacks: https://stackforce.com/en/products/stack-faq/good-to-know-protocol-stack-basics

applications in the sector must be one thing above all: changeable! There are constantly new requirements to be met in a developing city. and play a central role here. The technology scores here all along the line – especially when it comes to the of , in areas with a very high node density.

With a video, we illustrate the use case "Data Highway" and how with mioty the data transfer takes place:

In metropolitan areas high node density leads to increasing problems due to interference and the resulting loss of data. How the still young IoT protocol sof...

We continue in our Stack Basics section with the question of which can be used for between . This question is important in order to adapt to a given infrastructure with one's project or to build one's own network.

In the IoT, many different technologies can be used to enable devices to communicate. At STACKFORCE, we mainly focus on the protocol as well as technologies, which are characterized by communication over longer distances with very low energy consumption to achieve the longest possible deployment time:

💡 👉 specifically designed for use in "massive" IoT networks.

💡 👉 open specification and lots of ecosystem components are Open Source.

💡 👉 wireless communication over long distances with very low power.

💡 M-Bus (Meter-Bus) 👉 communication protocol specifically designed for meter data collection and transmission.

Welcome Konrad Aicher
Since the beginning of August, we have gained a reinforcement for our team. With Konrad, an experienced manager enriches the management of STACKFORCE.
He has a remarkable career with him and is now bringing his knowledge and motivation to the company in order to further exploit the growth potential of STACKFORCE. Konrad considers STACKFORCE with its portfolio and the very good in the market and in various committees, such as , or , as very well positioned for the rapidly growing and market. Together with David Rahusen and the STACKFORCE team, he would like to develop and provide the optimal stack solutions in the environment for our customers and thus contribute to the further success of STACKFORCE.
We are happy to have Konrad on board to take another step towards standard products with STACKFORCE and to be able to open up new markets.

An important point when using is, of course, the question for whom the use is even possible and makes sense. Basically, stacks can be used by various entities involved in the development, deployment, and management of and to enable on a . Examples of these groups include:
• IoT device manufacturers can integrate a protocol stack into their devices ( , ,…) to enable standardized communication between the devices and other system components.
• System can use a protocol stack to interconnect and different IoT systems and devices.
• IoT application developers can use existing protocol stacks to enable standardized communication between their applications and IoT devices.

Today's topic of our Stack Basic series is the question whether protocol stacks can be used on any hardware?

In principle, a is hardware agnostic and can be deployed on any if the framework is met. The performance of the hardware as well as specific requirements of the have to be considered to ensure that the stack works properly. If, for example, the device's hardware does not have sufficient processing power or memory, this may result in not supporting all of the stack's functions.

The protocol stack is the component that resides on a within a device and is typically part of the running on a microcontroller. Via a radio chip or a radio interface, the stack enables e.g., using technologies.

We are going to dive into the summer holiday season with some questions and answers 💡 In a season of posts, we will provide information around the topic of . To get off a smooth start, we answer the basic question: what is a protocol stack?

In order to enable ( or ) in an to transmit data via radio, software is needed to perform this task. This software is the protocol stack, which is called like this, because it consists of several protocols on different levels or of that build on each other.

Basically, protocol stacks are responsible for enabling communication between devices in a network and ensuring reliable and efficient data transmission.

We last introduced over as news. Today we want to look at OMS over , which was specified some time ago but is no less interesting. The joint specification of the OMS-Group e. V. and the LoRa Alliance enables standard via LoRaWAN. applications in the sector that already use OMS can thus benefit from the advantages of LoRaWAN. These include low energy consumption, long range, deep indoor pe*******on and firmware updates over the air (FUOTA).

at all levels has been confirmed, from the to different OMS devices over the same or different LoRaWAN . More information about our Dual wM-Bus & LoRaWAN: https://stackforce.com/en/products/protocol-stacks/multi-stack/dual-stack-wireless-mbus-lorawan

In June, the Technical Report 08 „OMS over mioty“ was published by the OMS taskforce . This report specifies OMS over mioty, which is a method to use mioty as a transport mechanism in an OMS . It proposes an architecture for a combined to transport the higher layers of [EN 13757] over the lower layers of mioty. In between is the adaptation layer that is defined to transport M-Bus datagrams over .
