According to Clarks, the shoe company, who ran a basic A/B test where they switched out a carousel slider in favor of a static banner - 17.5% increase in conversions!! For 18–25 years olds create a flat design(Material Design) and for 35 years or older a traditional design. Switch your online presence according to the users age.

18-to-25-year olds gave slightly higher ratings of flat designs than older adults. That increased aesthetic appeal may not be worth the cost of flat design.
