“Launch now, perfect later.”

Sounds smart.
Feels efficient.
Works… until it doesn’t.

Because what I’m seeing more and more –
brands scaling on top of something that was never fully built.

I’ve presented to teams at Apple.
Good enough isn’t a thing.
Work gets pushed. Refined. Fixed properly before it ever goes out.

There is no “we’ll sort it later.”

Yet in ecom?
It’s become the default.

A brand identity built in pieces.
Copy that shifts depending on where you land.
Packaging from year one next to a website from year three.

Nothing obviously wrong.
But together?

It just doesn’t connect.

And that disconnect quietly chips away at trust, consistency, and perceived value.

There’s a difference between testing and scaling.

Testing = speed.
Scaling = coherence.

At some point,
“we’ll fix it later” stops being a strategy…
and starts being the thing holding you back.

Yes, the font matters.
Yes, the packaging matters.
But what about the bigger picture?

The long-term vision.
The ecosystem you’re building.
The reason you started in the first place.

Obsessing over one product launch, one label tweak, or one trending Reel is like re-decorating a room in a house that’s missing a roof.

Strong brands don’t just make things look good – they build with purpose.

As a 2026 DesignRush Awards Juror in the Packaging category, I’ve now spent six months reviewing submissions from around the world… and I genuinely can’t believe how quickly it’s gone.

Looking across beverage, household and food goods categories reinforces something important –

Packaging is never just design.

It’s positioning.
It’s clarity.
It’s commercial thinking made tangible.

The entries that really stand out aren’t the loudest.

They’re the most coherent.

And I have to say – seeing the level of creativity and fresh thinking coming through each month is genuinely inspiring. It sharpens your eye and raises your standards all at once.
