Hospitals and pathology institutes are going digital. Data volumes are growing. At the same time, the pressure is rising to integrate high-performance solutions into everyday practice quickly, securely, and without unnecessary technical complexity.

At DMEA, Smart In Media will demonstrate how digital pathology can be implemented efficiently, flexibly, and without unnecessary technical complexity.

This year, we will be exhibiting together with HUAWEI at Stand A-107 in Hall 1.2. At the center of our presentation is PathoZoom® Digital Lab, our diagnostic platform with image management system, and the question of how digital pathology can already be implemented today in a way that is efficient, flexible, and technically far less complex than many expect.

Visitors will experience firsthand how digital workflows save time, how cross-site collaboration and remote work can function in daily practice, and how lean setup and installation can actually be. Together with HUAWEI, we will also demonstrate how digital slides and macro images can be stored intelligently and in a future-proof way.

On site, Corina Turner, Ralph Gloser, PD Dr. Martin Weihrauch, and Omar Tariq look forward to conversations, insights, and specific questions. Another special highlight at the stand will be the AGIBOT X2 – a compact humanoid robot that brings the future of technology to life in an impressive way.

As part of the DMEA Guided Tour, we will also offer a deeper insight into our solutions at our stand on Tuesday afternoon. Whenever needed, HUAWEI’s storage experts will join the discussion directly.

Spontaneous visits are always welcome. Those who would like to schedule a dedicated conversation in advance can arrange an appointment with our team at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

Anyone looking to gain an impression of the pathology of today and tomorrow will find it at Stand A-107.

This week, Smart In Media participated in INFORSALUD 2026 in Madrid.

A particular highlight for us was the sponsored session with José Luis Solórzano, MD, PhD, from MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid — a valued Smart In Media customer — who shared how digital infrastructure in pathology can connect tissue, data, and clinical decision-making.

His presentation made one thing very clear: digital pathology creates value when it is embedded in a validated, traceable, and clinically meaningful workflow. Not as an isolated demo. Not as a standalone AI feature. But as part of a connected architecture designed for real diagnostic use.

This is exactly where Smart In Media contributes: helping pathology teams build digital workflows that support collaboration, scalability, and clinical relevance in routine practice.

A sincere thank you to José Luis Solórzano and the team at MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid for the trusted collaboration—and to everyone we had the pleasure of meeting at INFORSALUD 2026 in Madrid.

At USCAP 2026, innovation in pathology was not discussed in theory. It was demonstrated live.

As one of the world’s most influential congresses in pathology, USCAP is far more than a major event in the United States. It is an international stage for technologies, ideas, and partnerships shaping the field's future.

We were proud to be part of it once again.

Throughout the congress, our booth was consistently busy — with strong interest, many live demos, and valuable conversations with pathologists, partners, and industry professionals from around the world. We were especially pleased to showcase our solutions live in use: PathoZoom® Scan & LiveView, PathoZoom® LiveView Macro, and our diagnostic platform PathoZoom® Digital Lab with its advanced Image Management System.

What made USCAP 2026 especially valuable for us was not only the visibility of our solutions but also the quality of the exchange around them. The discussions at our booth reflected exactly what matters in Digital Pathology today: practical workflows, connected systems, diagnostic excellence, and scalable innovation.

We were also delighted to reconnect with trusted network partners, strengthen existing relationships, and establish new connections across the international pathology community.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, joined a demo, and shared perspectives with us. We are leaving USCAP 2026 with strong momentum, meaningful new impulses, and great confidence in what lies ahead for digital pathology.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲 — 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄? – That was the central question of the opening session of our new online series Innovation Spotlight | Digital Pathology.

Together with Dr. Sebastian Casu, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of elea, we explored why AI in pathology should no longer be reduced to biomarkers, image analysis, or slide-based algorithms alone. The next real step may lie deeper in the diagnostic process: in documentation, context integration, reporting, and the way information moves across systems.

Real value emerges when images, information, and workflows come together in one connected diagnostic environment — for example, through the interaction of an AI-powered LIS such as elea and an open image management system such as Smart In Media’s diagnostic platform PathoZoom® Digital Lab, designed to integrate scanners, image formats, and AI modules with greater flexibility.

A few key takeaways from the discussion:
• The first wave of AI in hospitals may change doctors’ time before it changes medicine
• In pathology, diagnostic quality depends on morphology in the clinical context
• The future of AI in pathology will be shaped by workflow architecture, not isolated tools
• Real value emerges when systems such as LIS and IMS work together coherently

One of the highlights of the Congress in Vienna was meeting our customers from Kazakhstan in person: A delegation from Meditec LLP joined us at our booth – including the company’s owner and several end-users. For us, it was a great reminder that congresses are not just about showcasing technology, but about building relationships across borders.

Meditec LLP is implementing our PathoZoom® Digital Lab together with Hamamatsu scanners to enable seamless collaboration across sites, and is also digitizing grossing stations with PathoZoom® LiveView Macro. Seeing our solutions come to life in Kazakhstan is both exciting and rewarding – and this meeting at ECP made the partnership even more tangible.

We truly enjoyed the personal exchange and are looking forward to many more joint projects ahead.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹? – Quite a bit, according to three independent studies:
• A UK study showed that reviewing immunohistochemical panels digitally was 26% faster than by light microscope – with no loss of diagnostic accuracy.
• A Dutch lab found that digital workflows reduced reading time by 12.3% on average, and up to 68% in prostate biopsies.
• A multi-country analysis across eight European labs confirms significant efficiency gains through faster access to slides, easier archiving, and improved logistics.

However: The actual time saved depends on the entire workflow – from sample entry to reporting and long-term archiving. Well-integrated digital systems make all the difference.

Curious which systems deliver such results? – Comment “Time” below – we’ll send you a compact overview of the studies and Digital Pathology setups that helped achieve these results.

The Digital Workflow – From Stained Slides to Seamless Diagnosis:
Many assume that digital pathology simply means scanning slides. But there’s much more behind a truly digital diagnostics process. What changes when a lab switches to a platform like PathoZoom® Digital Lab – featuring a built-in IMS and the world’s fastest viewer?

After scanning, Digital Lab automatically indexes incoming slides, matches them to cases using barcodes and LIS metadata. If any slides are missing, placeholders are displayed, ensuring completeness and clarity from the outset.

Cases open fully synchronized in both the LIS and Digital Lab. Pathologists see case status, tags, and AI scores in Digital Lab. Need a second opinion? Just generate a QR code to launch a remote live consultation – or activate conference mode for team review.

Macro images from the grossing station (captured via PathoZoom® LiveView MACRO) can be stored directly in the IMS, eliminating the need to switch platforms or interrupt the workflow.

Finally, scanned slides can be deleted after a predefined time or archived according to your institution’s policy.

👉 Curious to see it in action? Let’s schedule a demo.
