I posted about the new Tail NDI and the comments are this good that I have to show them here.

Doug Andersen And be aware that, if you get a not-NDI camera, you only have till the end fo this year to activate it, or then it will forevermore be a not-NDI camera. And if you want to sell it in a couple years, the question will be- does it have NDI activated?
Thomas from SCHNITTPUNKT
This is really important! Maybe get the NDI option now.

Anthony Burokas There are still some of us that don’t need ndi and never will
I activated my first tail air then later transferred it to the tail 2 and I have never used it.
I can almst guarantee that when the time expires, Obsbot will look after us.
Thomas
Maybe OBSBOT can also say something about this topic

Doug Andersen I don't know what you think "looking after you" means. Because, with 7 months to go, OBSBOT has started putting a pop-up alert on the screen. No one will be able to say, "oh I wanted to but I didn't know" or "please, can you just activate it"
It'll be - You had a full year to do it. Now it's unavailable.
Otherwise, OBSBOT may lose THEIR ability to even put NDI in their gear- and they're not gonna risk that. Remember, NDI is a _license_ from another company. It's not OBSBOT's. NDI, created by NewTek is owned by VizRT. They're terminating the activations, permanently. That's why there's a "new" model (the same model) with NDI already activated. As for not needing it and never will, I think you're missing out. A single cable for video (to multiple destinations) power, camera control, tally, that's not limited to typical HDMI distances, can be used wirelessly, is pretty darn sweet. But there's SRT! To one location, no control, no tally.

Thank you so much for this information. Iti s to good to be hidden in a comment.

Anthony Burokas I guess if you knew my workflow, you would understand.
100 percent of my streaming is funerals. I can't run cables throufh 30mtr long churches and I don't need tally lights only one of my cameras is wired, the rest are wireless and powered by powerbanks. I use srt because it's smoother than wireless ndi and it's free. I only need to get a signal from 20-30 mtr and srt handles that well. I'm not connecting from another location.
I am looking at going back to my hdmi transmitters into the Atem because the srt connections are a load on the network and vMix but there is a lot of testing to do yet. I'm not missing out on anything not using ndi. I have tried it and it doesn't work well for me. I activated my first tail air and never used it. I had the license transferred to one of my tail 2 and still don't use it. It may work for you because you have a different workflow.
Thomas
Thanks so much for showing us what you can do today for a living. Fort he technical stuff: It was also great to see that there is not just one way you must follow. The right question is: what is the best way for each user?
For me — and for many readers — it is great to learn every day! And I will definitely have a look into SRT.
