At the innocam.FORUM, Volkswagen Infotainment showed how data‑driven mobile online services create real value. To inspire more young women to explore careers in hardware and software, we were proud to welcome eight curious and motivated participants last week to Girls’ Day 2026 at Volkswagen Infotainment. 💻🚗

Throughout the day, they gained exciting insights into our company, asked thoughtful questions, and took part in hands-on projects in both hardware and software. From building their own decision finder to programming a Circuit Playground, the girls showed impressive curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm. 🤖⚙️

They also learned more about our apprenticeship opportunities and discovered what a future in IT and technology can look like. One of the best moments of the day? Hearing a loud and confident “YES!” when asked if they could imagine working in tech one day!

What happens when a vehicle can’t be properly driven by its driver? What happens when the situation warrants handing over control of the car to another? Our clever pioneers and several other external colleagues had a truly ingenious idea!

Our colleagues’ invention is based on the interaction of at least two vehicles. One vehicle A is on the road while another vehicle B is travelling in its vicinity. Vehicle B continuously monitors the driving behavior of vehicle A by evaluating driving and environmental data. This includes information on lane faithfulness, steering angle, braking and acceleration behavior as well as distances to other road users. Abnormalities such as uncontrolled lane changes or unusual driving maneuvers can indicate that vehicle A is no longer under the active control of the driver.

Once a dangerous situation is confirmed, vehicle B pulls up in front of vehicle A and forces it to drive in a convoy. Vehicle A will automatically follow the lead vehicle. The prerequisite for this is that both vehicles have suitable communication modules as well as a control device that enables external guidance without human intervention.
