Tomorrow Accelerator Kickoff Day!

Yesterday was one of the most exciting days of the year in our startup hub calendar. Our 9-month accelerator program officially kicked off, bringing together 8 teams from a pool of over 300 applicants!

These select early-stage startups are building the solutions to tomorrow's most important global challenges in AI, climate, and deep tech. These are exactly the kind of founders our future needs, and we're backing them all the way.

So without further ado, we're delighted to introduce you to the teams joining our program in 2026:

Kalz: Turning CO2 and industrial waste into sustainable cement, at scale
Kodnyx: Cutting industrial costs by up to 35% by optimizing electricity architecture
LinePulse: Detecting and resolving factory floor issues with AI agents

They now have nine months of runway and support to focus deeply on their ideas. As our founder Darius Moeini put it to the teams, this opportunity is a real privilege, and one BIA is proud to make possible through the backing of the Berlin Senate, whose program keeps investing in the next generation of innovative Berlin-based companies driven to scale and and lead their fields.

You'll often hear AI described in three tiers and it helps to have a basic understanding of where we are right now, and where we might be headed.

🔹 𝗔𝗡𝗜 — 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 World-class specialists. They can beat you at chess or read a thousand invoices in a second — but they can't generalize. Every AI system in existence today, including ChatGPT, is ANI.

🔹 𝗔𝗚𝗜 — 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 A system that can solve problems across any domain as well as a human can, transferring capability across contexts. Despite the headlines, most computer scientists agree this doesn't exist yet.

🔹 𝗔𝗦𝗜 — 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 The hypothetical point at which machines exceed human capability in almost every way. For now, it's purely theoretical. Today's models are impressive. They pass the bar exam. They match human benchmarks.

But don't confuse system capability with genuine human understanding. It's still mathematics at work, extremely powerful, but narrow.

Getting clear on the fundamentals like this is what makes the difference between reacting to every new headline and building a steady, informed view of where AI can actually move the needle.

What does it actually look like to join an accelerator and have your idea turn into a proper company?

For Harriet von Kügelgen and the team at dauri — who are turning sustainability reporting into profitable climate action — joining our program last year meant the transformation from a promising project into a real business with a tangible product, paying customers AND even settling into a physical office. 🏢

After taking 12 founders to the city this year, it became clear how ready it is to support Berlin’s climate innovators in practical ways.

As part of our ClimateX Go Global program, we spent time in France to understand how they scale climate tech and how they help founders open real opportunities at ChangeNOW and across the wider ecosystem.

Why Paris matters now:

London is climate focused 🇬🇧🌱
When we built ClimateX Go Global this year, we wanted each city to stand for something clear. For London, that word is focus.

We scanned London’s climate-tech landscape—culture, funding, policy, and investor behaviour—to understand where the strongest signals are emerging. Events like Blue Earth Summit show how central climate work has become to the city.

A few signals highlight why London matters for Berlin’s climate founders:
· Europe’s #1 startup ecosystem, with steady climate-tech activity
· A top-three global city for new AI startups shaping grids, materials, and nature systems (Startup Genome)
· The UK attracts nearly 40% of Europe’s climate venture funding (Dealroom)

To make this actionable for Berlin founders, we partnered with Sustainable Ventures and hosted three focused online sessions with local experts:

2️⃣ Berlin to London – Where the Climate Investment Is Flowing

3️⃣ Stand Out to Scale Up – Storytelling That Converts in the UK
with Kate Hinton — simple guidance on shaping a story that works for UK investors and media.

Across all three, one message stood out:
London responds to grounded climate solutions and early signs of impact. It backs founders who can clearly show why their work matters there.
