Tomorrow Accelerator Kickoff Day!

Yesterday was one of the most exciting days of the year in our startup hub calendar. Our 9-month accelerator program officially kicked off, bringing together 8 teams from a pool of over 300 applicants!

These select early-stage startups are building the solutions to tomorrow's most important global challenges in AI, climate, and deep tech. These are exactly the kind of founders our future needs, and we're backing them all the way.

So without further ado, we're delighted to introduce you to the teams joining our program in 2026:

Kalz: Turning CO2 and industrial waste into sustainable cement, at scale
Kodnyx: Cutting industrial costs by up to 35% by optimizing electricity architecture
LinePulse: Detecting and resolving factory floor issues with AI agents
mloda: Creating an open standard for AI-agent data access
One Roof: Making sustainable construction the new standard
Phasis: Solving heating and cooling spikes with carbon-negative thermal storage
Renion: Optimizing biogas plants with pre-treated biochar
Rollout: Automating compliance with full traceability

They now have nine months of runway and support to focus deeply on their ideas. As our founder Darius Moeini put it to the teams, this opportunity is a real privilege, and one BIA is proud to make possible through the backing of the Berlin Senate, whose program keeps investing in the next generation of innovative Berlin-based companies driven to scale and and lead their fields.

We can't wait to watch how their journeys unfold, and we'll keep you updated every step of the way.

You'll often hear AI described in three tiers and it helps to have a basic understanding of where we are right now, and where we might be headed.

🔹 𝗔𝗡𝗜 — 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 World-class specialists. They can beat you at chess or read a thousand invoices in a second — but they can't generalize. Every AI system in existence today, including ChatGPT, is ANI.

🔹 𝗔𝗚𝗜 — 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 A system that can solve problems across any domain as well as a human can, transferring capability across contexts. Despite the headlines, most computer scientists agree this doesn't exist yet.

🔹 𝗔𝗦𝗜 — 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 The hypothetical point at which machines exceed human capability in almost every way. For now, it's purely theoretical. Today's models are impressive. They pass the bar exam. They match human benchmarks.

But don't confuse system capability with genuine human understanding. It's still mathematics at work, extremely powerful, but narrow.

Getting clear on the fundamentals like this is what makes the difference between reacting to every new headline and building a steady, informed view of where AI can actually move the needle.

That clarity is what good decisions are built on. 💪

What does it actually look like to join an accelerator and have your idea turn into a proper company?

For Harriet von Kügelgen and the team at dauri — who are turning sustainability reporting into profitable climate action — joining our program last year meant the transformation from a promising project into a real business with a tangible product, paying customers AND even settling into a physical office. 🏢

For Harriet, the real shift came from how the program reshaped dauri from the inside out. Access to experienced mentors across a wide range of topics pushed the team to question their assumptions and look at their work through a new lens.

That outside perspective, combined with the structure and pace of the program, is what turned a promising idea into a structured, commercially-viable business with the professionalism to match.

Ready to follow in their footsteps? Applications for our next cohort of our 9-month program close May 21st.

If you are building in Climate, Deep Tech, and AI, we want to hear from you.

Scaling internationally is exciting and full of potential.
But it brings new rules, new cultures, and new risks.

That’s why we’re building the ClimateX Go Global program: to help Berlin-based founders, country managers, and growth leaders navigate this complexity—faster, smarter, and with the right people around them.

What is the program? It’s three things:
1️⃣ Strategic Preparation (Webinars): Hands-on expert sessions on market intelligence and cultural nuances to ensure you are ready to internationalize effectively.
2️⃣ Curated Local Network (Events): Access to a selected community of Berlin-based peers sharing the same goals and challenges
3️⃣ Global Market Access (Delegation Trips): The core of our program—intimate delegation trips to top ecosystems in Paris, Malmö, and Shanghai.

This is a fully funded program for Berlin-based startups and SMEs.
If you’re working towards the sustainability transition and ready to look beyond borders, we want to hear from you.

🇮🇳 Bangalore is climate traction.

After BIA spent five days inside India’s tech capital in November, it became clear how quickly ideas turn into real steps when Berlin founders plug into the right networks.

As part of our ClimateX Go Global program, the delegation met policy leaders, investors, R&D teams, and mobility innovators — each adding a different layer of support for founders entering the Indian market.

Why Bangalore matters now:
• Karnataka is one of India’s strongest tech regions, backed by policy, talent, and deep startup support
• Bengaluru Tech Summit brings together global and Indian climate-tech actors in one place
• Corporate R&D hubs — Bosch, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz R&D India — actively seek startup collaboration
• Mobility and climate enablers like Micelio offer real testing, labs, and ecosystem support

The results speak for themselves:
✔️ investor calls already booked
✔️ pilot discussions opened
✔️ new collaboration pathways
✔️ and a shared roadmap for next steps in India

Berlin founders bring the solutions — Bangalore brings the openness to build together.

🇫🇷 Paris is climate momentum.
After taking 12 founders to the city this year, it became clear how ready it is to support Berlin’s climate innovators in practical ways.

As part of our ClimateX Go Global program, we spent time in France to understand how they scale climate tech and how they help founders open real opportunities at ChangeNOW and across the wider ecosystem.

Why Paris matters now:
• Under France 2030, 50% of the €54bn budget is planned for decarbonization (info.gov.fr)
• 500+ climate-tech startups call the city home (Startup Genome)
• At Station F, 1,000 startups work under one roof, raising over €1bn each year (stationf.co)

On our delegation visit we met with:
↳ Bpifrance on how public funding reduces early risk
↳ WILCO Business Consulting Services & German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK) on legal entry, investor expectations and the close relationship between German and French companies.
↳Climate House for corporate partnership models
↳ChangeNOW for meaningful 1:1 meetings and an atmosphere that puts you right in the middle of Europe’s climate efforts.
↳STATION F, where one of our delegates, RiDERgy connected with BNP Paribas’ B! UP Explore, the early-stage program run by BivwAk!. They have since joined the program.

The future of climate tech in Europe is the type of collaboration that is happening in the Berlin–Paris axis.

London is climate focused 🇬🇧🌱
When we built ClimateX Go Global this year, we wanted each city to stand for something clear. For London, that word is focus.

We scanned London’s climate-tech landscape—culture, funding, policy, and investor behaviour—to understand where the strongest signals are emerging. Events like Blue Earth Summit show how central climate work has become to the city.

A few signals highlight why London matters for Berlin’s climate founders:
· Europe’s #1 startup ecosystem, with steady climate-tech activity
· A top-three global city for new AI startups shaping grids, materials, and nature systems (Startup Genome)
· The UK attracts nearly 40% of Europe’s climate venture funding (Dealroom)

To make this actionable for Berlin founders, we partnered with Sustainable Ventures and hosted three focused online sessions with local experts:

1️⃣ Where to Play & Where to Win – Mapping the UK ClimateTech Scene
with Joseph Seal-Driver — where the market is moving and which climate areas stay active.

2️⃣ Berlin to London – Where the Climate Investment Is Flowing
with Joshua Armistead-Wood — investor behaviour, funding appetite, and timing.

3️⃣ Stand Out to Scale Up – Storytelling That Converts in the UK
with Kate Hinton — simple guidance on shaping a story that works for UK investors and media.

Across all three, one message stood out:
London responds to grounded climate solutions and early signs of impact. It backs founders who can clearly show why their work matters there.

Amid the , government sessions, corporate meetings, and the awesome on-the-ground guidance from our local partner ,here’s what truly mattered:

✔️ multiple investor follow-up calls already scheduled
✔️ pilot discussions opened with leading corporates
✔️ new collaboration pathways between Berlin and Bangalore
✔️ concrete support offers from ecosystem partners
✔️ and a clear roadmap for next steps in India

A huge thank you to our partner on the ground — especially Harsh*tha Kampli, Souad Tenfiche-Ancelle, and Mehar Zariwala — whose hospitality, precision, and deep network unlocked doors our founders could not have opened alone. Their commitment to helping our delegation succeed was visible in every introduction, every meeting, and every late-evening WhatsApp coordination thread.

To everyone who met with our founders, shared insights, gave feedback, or opened a new opportunity: thank you.

And we’re not done.
In one month, we will host a follow-up session with all founders to review partnership progress, evaluate open collaborations, and define concrete international next steps sparked by this visit.

Onward — together — to what comes next. 🌱✈️
