Colorama is a small Art Press and Risoprinting studio based in Berlin run by Johanna Maierski since 2015. Our publications and exhibitions present contemporary artists in the field of experimental comics and artists’ books, as well as projects that explore speculative forms of narration, collective narration and alternative knowledge production.

COLORAMA Production Sessions!!
Coming up 10-11th of September
and 15-16th of October

Less emails, more printing and binding!

From now on, we’re grouping smaller print projects into our monthly Production Sessions: two days each month dedicated entirely to producing your posters, zines, small publications and editions.

Instead of coordinating lots of small productions individually, we collect them into these concentrated sessions — giving us more time for printing and making, while keeping smaller productions affordable.

How it works: Book one of the limited Production Session slots in advance to secure your place. Once booked, your production is guaranteed for that session. You send us your print-ready files and final specifications beforehand, and we prepare everything for the production days. You can leave the printing and binding to us, or join us in the studio during production and/ or do the binding yourself!

From now on, all smaller production projects at Colorama will be realised through these monthly sessions. Larger and more complex publications will continue to be planned individually.

You can find the available slots and price estimates via the link in bio.

You can find an article written about the publication in the Zeitschrift für Medienwissenschaft written by Kat Köppert—>
‘Tradwives, Momfluencers,
Nostalgic simulations, critical identifications’

(Translated to English) “The work, which has also been published as a book, examines, among other things, nostalgia as a sentiment of digital image cultures in technofascism from a feminist perspective.”

Published and printed by Colorama, 12x18cm, 102 pages, edition of 750, Berlin 2025.
The cover image is a painting by Sofia Nogueira.

Volunteers Appreciation Post

At the beginning of August I made an Call to ask who would be up for helping with binding some Colorama publications during August and soooo many people wrote me (over 30!!!!)
We found a crew of 10 people who then continued to come in different days during the week and helped binding piles and piles of books! Some of our titles are bound by hand so the labour that goes into them sometimes slows down the process of finishing them immensely, especially when we have bigger public programming running parallel (or I am trying to have a little break).
I was super touched and also impressed, how funny, sweet, dedicated, precise and amazing this crew is! Booky, Alice, Alicja, Sally, Beps, Fran, Cristina, Vale, Juliana, Helen, my biggest heartfelt gratitude!!!! It was lovely to have you at the studio and to eat lunch together and to get to know you, learn tricks from you (especially looking at Booky Margoof and their infamous mirror trick) and I am looking forward to welcome you back to the studio

The Yukiko x Colorama Design School is here!

We are very excited to share this special course with you. In the planning since over a year and now finally happening.

Develop your own publication across six sessions exploring editorial design, sequencing and typographic storytelling with Studio Yukiko and Colorama. The course concludes with a collaborative production weekend where participants print and bind their individual A4 12-page Riso-printed publication (edition of 25).

More details and course plan coming soon!
Ps: we will offer two discounted stipends for this course for low-income / unemployed individuals. More info on the application procedure also in short.
