I keep getting articles, tips, offers etc. on the subject of employee satisfaction here on LinkedIn (and actually in many other places too). This is completely understandable.
The pressure on companies is growing. A shortage of skilled labour and a significant shift in interests, lifestyles, etc. naturally have an extreme impact on how we look for new skilled workers and how we try to keep the ones we have on board.
What is not being offered and discussed? Work-life balance; social benefits; CSR; purpose and so on.
In my opinion, none of this is wrong. We at openMIND also have clear values, are socially and voluntarily committed, give all employees very good opportunities to coordinate family and career well and have even introduced the 30-hour week (with full salaries).
HOWEVER: Please also think about the seemingly insignificant things. Where do your internal processes or ambiguities repeatedly cause dissatisfaction and frustration?

We've all been there: you're finally back home after an exhausting business trip, looking forward to a relaxing weekend and then on Saturday morning you get a guilty conscience and sit down to collect your receipts.
After all, you want to get back the money you spent privately as quickly as possible. Then you look for the Excel or PDF template on the intranet, fill everything in, stick the receipts on, only to realise that a receipt is missing.
Now what? Self-prepared Receipt = the solution. But how does it work? Is this also possible if travel expense accounting software is used? How do I set this up? What are the legal requirements?

Sascha Lobo wrote an article about the META Verse a few month ago in SPIEGEL online. One of the essential statements was that in any case with new technologies it depends on the applications and the "feel-good factor" when using them.
The METAverse will therefore prevail, according to the thesis, if the glasses as an access really feel like glasses and bring us not only added value but also, above all, fun.
It was the same with smartphones. Only the many APP's that we can use as a matter of course actually made it successful. Basically, the term smartPHONE is now misleading, because this companion has had almost nothing to do with a phone for a long time.
In today's blog article, we continue the MINI series on mobile working and, of course, it's all about our travel expense report. Time and again, our customers tell us how easy it is to use the APP to enter receipts, allowance or mileage. The APP is used with excitement and thus becomes an integral part of binding important employees to the company.
A side effect that should not be underestimated. Above all, however, it is a matter of simplicity of use in the representation of sometimes highly complex issues. It's about saving time and streamlining processes.

How many home screens do you have on your smartphone or pad? And how many apps are on them? Do you also use folders to sort the many apps in a meaningful way?
I check this for myself from time to time, because I actually use relatively few APP's on a regular basis. Our APP for recording travel expenses is definitely one of them.

Wir hetzen genauso auf unseren Geschäftsreisen, wie auch sonst im Arbeitsalltag.

What does software for travel expense accounting have to do with artificial intelligence (AI)? Or to put it another way, why is openMIND sales & consulting GmbH involved with AI?
The first question is easily answered. Our SaaS solution uses AI in the process of digitising receipts in quality management. Especially in image recognition, AI has achieved fundamental progress in the last 10 years. And a receipt is just a picture.
But much more exciting is the relationship between AI and our company. We chose the first part of our name "openMIND" quite deliberately. For us, this means being open to new technologies. Open does not mean naïve. It means researching, analysing and constantly re-evaluating with an open mind.
In our view, AI is one of the essential technologies of the future, which has the potential to change our society from the ground up. But in which direction? Towards total surveillance or towards solving our essential problems such as climate change, health, etc.?
Advantages and disadvantages need to be discussed. We need to define what we want to use this technology for and where there need to be limits and regulations. We have managed that in the past with other technologies. Such a public debate requires informed participants. If we only read the enthusiastic reports of the tech companies or only the dystopian expectations of those who reject almost every new technology, we will not make good decisions and will very likely be too late.
We need to become much more aware that whether we are enthusiastic, fearful or neutral about AI, we are already using it all the time. And we use it as a matter of course, without thinking too much about it. Every time you make a search query, move around on a social media platform, have texts translated or our customers scan a receipt with the app, AI is being used.
In addition to an open mind (openMIND), an open debate also needs to be informed.

Immer wieder bekomme ich hier auf LinkedIn (und eigentlich auch an vielen anderen Stellen) Artikel, Hinweise, Angebote usw. zum Thema Zufriedenheit der Mitarbeitenden. Das ist ja auch komplett nachvollziehbar.
Der Druck auf die Unternehmen wächst. Fachkräftemangel und dazu eine deutliche Verschiebung der Interessen, Lebensmodelle usw. haben natürlich einen extremen Einfluss darauf, wie wir neue Fachkräfte suchen und wie wir versuchen, die die wir haben an Board zu halten.
Was wird da nicht alles angeboten und diskutiert: Work-Life-Balance; Social Benefits; CSR; Purpose und und und.
Das alles ist aus meiner Sicht gar nicht falsch. Auch wir bei der openMIND haben klare Werte, sind sozial und ehrenamtlich engagiert, geben allen Mitarbeitenden sehr gute Möglichkeiten Familie und Beruf gut zu koordinieren und haben sogar die 30-Stunden-Woche (bei vollen Gehältern) eingeführt.
ABER: Denken Sie bitte auch einmal an die scheinbar unwesentlichen Dinge. Wo erzeugen Ihre internen Prozesse oder Unklarheiten immer wieder Unzufriedenheit, Frustration?

Surprisingly, the terms commuter allowance and mileage allowance fit right into this category. They are discussed in a similarly emotional way in politics and at the pub. In the process, these two terms are confused for each other, thrown together and the actual background is usually not really known.
