LinkedIn Isn't Social Media. It's Your Business Card. | Women on the Rise - Lecture #2 Recap

In July, our 21 Japanese female founders came together for "LinkedIn Mastery for European Outreach" — a session dedicated to turning LinkedIn from a "social network" into the credibility infrastructure it truly is for doing business in Europe.

Our CEO Chika Yamamoto shared how she has personally used LinkedIn to secure meetings with European companies, take the stage at Osaka EXPO and the WIT event, and connect with mentors at VivaTech Paris. She walked founders through three practical use cases — business development, fundraising (Founder Due Diligence), and market research — with concrete frameworks for each.

Guest mentor / speaker: Bjoern Eichstaedt (Managing Partner/Co-Owner, Storymaker)

Bjoern — who has spent 20+ years supporting Asian companies' expansion into Europe and strengthening global brands' storytelling — broke down how differently LinkedIn is used in Europe versus Asia, framing it as a founder's business card, resume, and visible proof of credibility all in one. He covered the four account types (personal, company, showcase, group) and walked through a practical checklist for profile setup — photo, language settings, privacy, and posting strategy — before live-reviewing founders' own profiles on the spot.

Founders also received direct feedback on their pitches from Chika and two of our European mentors, Melissa Koenigsberg (Head of Finance, Atlantic) and Julia Bandov (Investor at offbyte Ventures, Founder of jb.events and DigitsUP).

Founders left with a clear roadmap: keep posting consistently, finish their English profiles, and start building real connections with key people across Europe.

"What Do You Want to Prove?" | Women on the Rise - Lecture #1 Recap

Back in June, we kicked off our lecture series for the 21 Japanese female founders in this year's Women on the Rise Europe Accelerator with "Find Your European Fit" — a session on market mapping and a fireside chat with a European role model.

What we covered:

🗺️ Europe's key startup hubs — Berlin, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Paris, Barcelona — and which cities fit which sectors

🔍 How to start researching markets, VCs, and business partners, using LinkedIn as a starting point and tapping into the CROSSBIE network and our European mentors

🗣️ Guest mentor / speaker: Alice Chan (Founder & Investor, Chan Venture)

Alice — a cross-border investor and entrepreneur based in Berlin, with a track record in Porsche's CVC investments and collaboration projects, and deep expertise in DeepTech, AI, and Web3 — shared the real story of expanding into Europe and how to build "proof points" that resonate with European stakeholders. She walked founders through three key questions to ask before their first European trip: What do you want to prove? Where can you borrow credibility? What will you bring back?

Founders left the session with a homework assignment: build their own "European Fit Canvas," complete with a Two-Pager to share with our global mentors and a target list of investors and potential partners.
