INTER-NOISE 2026 - A look back!

What a great event! From 9–12 August, Asia Co., Ltd. and our Australian distribution partner, Marshall Day Acoustics (), joined INTER-NOISE 2026 in Adelaide. We presented new solutions for open-air event noise prediction as well as industrial and psychoacoustic noise assessment.

Here are some of the highlights from our stand:
Efficient Open-Air Event Noise Prediction
We presented the new System Design Exchange (SDE) format, developed by , .l_acoustics, and SoundPLAN. Both SoundPLANnoise and SoundPLANessential+ support SDE workflows, helping users integrate detailed sound system data into environmental noise prediction projects.

SoundPLANnoise 9.2
Visitors could also hear about the upcoming SoundPLANnoise 9.2, featuring a revised user interface and improved workflows for data import, data processing, and calculation setup.

SoundPLANessential+
We also showcased SoundPLANessential+, designed for efficient noise predictions, including evaluations of complex industrial sites and open-air events.

How Noise Is Perceived
Another focus was psychoacoustic assessment, including indicators such as Loudness, Sharpness, and Tonality, which complement conventional sound level assessments. These three psychoacoustic parameters have now been added to SoundPLAN software.

🚀 Welcome to the Team, Roland!

A warm welcome to Roland, who has joined our software development team.

Roland Wahl is primarily responsible for developing external tools for SoundPLANnoise and is currently focusing on the EU noise mapping project for the German Federal Railway Authority, Eisenbahn-Bundesamt (EBA).

He also supports the ongoing improvement of SoundPLAN’s import functionalities and is currently exploring options for handling IFC and DGN data.

In addition, Roland contributes to the reliable operation of our IT and network infrastructure.

With a degree in mathematics (Dipl.-Math. (FH), Stuttgart), he brings valuable expertise and analytical thinking to our development team. A few months in, and Roland is already making a difference!

Roland is an enthusiastic road and mountain biker. His favourite T-shirts perfectly reflect his passion:

SoundPLANnoise 9.2 – NEW FEATURES

Import Free Properties

Want a sneak peek at SoundPLANnoise version 9.2?

In this post, we’ll introduce a new feature in SoundPLANnoise version 9.2!

Previously, when importing data, free properties had to be created manually first. Only then could the attribute be assigned to the free property.

In version 9.2, an attribute from the import file can be created as a free property and assigned with just one click! If necessary, the free property can also be edited during creation - for example, its name can be changed.

Two inspiring days at the SoundPLAN User Days 2026 in Ulm, Germany, have come to an end.

A big thank you to all participants, speakers, and partners who helped make this event such a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and professional discussion.

Over the course of two days earlier this month, SoundPLAN and other industry experts explored the latest developments in SoundPLANnoise 9.2, practical workflows for data import and export, and the ongoing revisions to standards such as ISO 9613-2 and DIN 4109. Expert presentations also covered topics including noise and the German “Bau-Turbo” (§ 246e BauGB, accelerated housing construction provision), the future development of RLS-19, and psychoacoustics.

Beyond the technical sessions, the event offered a great opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and connect with colleagues from the acoustics and environmental noise community in Germany and Austria.

From insightful presentations and lively discussions to shared dinners and even our early-morning run, there were many opportunities to build valuable connections.
