🔎 What makes a thermal core truly useful in the field?
Resolution is often the first specification we look at. But on its own, it does not tell us how well a thermal module will perform inside a real system.
The final image depends on the complete imaging chain — detector, sensitivity, optics, calibration, image processing, interfaces and integration.
WEOM® combines an LWIR microbolometer with 640 × 480 px resolution and 17 µm pixel pitch, FPGA image processing, a wide range of lens options and exchangeable interfaces for different OEM applications.
And this is where the difference between a detector and a truly usable thermal core becomes important.
How does its role change in a UAV, surveillance system, machine vision or industrial monitoring application?
Why can sensitivity matter just as much as resolution?
And how much do optics, image processing and interfaces influence the final result?
In our new article, we look at WEOM® as a complete imaging chain, not simply a list of technical specifications.
