In our company, knowledge transfer is something we always look forward to. 💡
In this regard, our colleague Milan Zlatanović held a workshop yesterday that we thoroughly enjoyed. As experts in the field of OTT application development, the workshop topic was an introduction to adaptive streaming, specifically how it is transmitted over the network.
The main focus was on improving and optimizing data transmission by segmenting data into smaller parts for faster transfer.
We also had the opportunity to learn about the essential needs for encoding, encrypting, and compressing data using codecs. Additionally, we were introduced to the concept of “manifest” and some of the fundamental facts necessary for manifest configuration, which enable adaptive streaming, i.e., adjusting and switching between different quality resolutions during streaming depending on the current data throughput speed.
Finally, we learned about some of the most popular and widely used formats of adaptive streams, such as HLS and MPEG-DASH, which are based on HTTP and TCP/IP protocols.
Thanks to our colleague Milan for the excellent presentation, and we eagerly await the next topic. 🤗
