Semtke—3.0V 3400F Ultracapacitor

Car Audio Application：

Extend the life of car batteries and reduce the cost of replacing batteries.

When the car audio system is running at high power (such as large dynamic bass), the battery will experience:

(1) Instantaneous high current discharge (such as the amplifier requires 200A+) → accelerated battery plate sulfation

(2) Frequent deep discharge (turning off the engine to listen to music) → lead-acid battery cycle life is drastically reduced

(3) Sudden voltage drop (such as the moment of ignition) → audio system restart/distortion

Supercapacitor solution:

(1) Act as an "energy buffer" to absorb impact current: Supercapacitors have an ultra-high discharge rate and bear more than 90% of the transient current demand of the audio system, while the battery only provides average current.

(2) Eliminate "voltage sag" damage: Supercapacitors act like voltage regulators, quickly replenishing power when the voltage drops, and absorbing excess energy when the voltage is too high, allowing the battery to always work in a stable state.

(3) Deep discharge protection system: Supercapacitors discharge first to ensure that the battery power is always kept within a safe range, thereby extending the battery life.

Note: Low-quality Ultracapacitors may turn into "electric mice".

Application in Voltage Sag Support：

Application in Peak Load Shaving：

With peak shaving (also called load shedding), a facility reduces power consumption rapidly and for a short duration to avoid an unexpected peak in consumption. Electrical loads are “shaved” or reduced by temporarily scaling down operations, activating an on-site power generation system, or relying on a secondary power source to provide short duration power. By having a reliable secondary power source there is no need to scale down operations to cut power demand. Batteries are often used for this function, but can require regular maintenance and replacement and have reliability issues.
