To put our looong story short: Tomexpo founder Mr.

Erkki Tommila built his first exhibition stands in the 60’s at the age of eighteen. The stands for his first employer, Finnish A. Ahlström Corporation, were often designed by none other than Mr. Tapio Wirkkala. After graduating as a Master Builder, Erkki pursued language studies in Sweden, England and Spain, ultimately finding his way to Switzerland. In 1977, he founded, together with his Swiss wi

fe Beatrice, a commercial agency for Finnish wood products: Tomwood AG. That’s when the stand building started, too. The exhibition business kept on growing and in 1992 they founded Tomexpo AG. Tomexpo has carried the responsibility of a main stand building contractor for Swiss Bankers Association and Finnish Foreign Trade Association (currently Finpro), to name a couple. Between 1987-1995 Tomexpo was also responsible for the majority of the trade show and event stands for Nokia Corporation. While building stands, we’ve also participated in building bridges to Europe and beyond for the Finnish forest industry and helped out the biggest players in the Finnish ICT sector in their internationalization. Thanks to our expertise, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a member of the United Nations Development Group, appointed Tomexpo AG as Management Consultants for the implementation of the Telecom Village at the ITU Telecom World 2003 in Geneva. We were also trusted with the building of Finnish pavilions for the 1998 Lisbon and 2000 Hannover World’s Fairs. Our international customers include giant corporations and daring challengers, makers of paper machines and luxury watches. Our past and present Finnish clientele represent the contemporary history of Finland’s foreign trade. Over the decades, exhibition venues everywhere in Europe have seen hundreds of stands built by Tomexpo. Every now and then we’ve also gone across the pond to build in the USA. The grand debut of the world’s first phone cards? New break-through mobile phones? Sure, we’ve built the stands and set the stage for some serious national and global launches. But despite the size of the stand, budget or the surroundings, we always put our heart into our work and always strive to meet your expectations down to the smallest details. Over the years, we’ve witnessed our customers change their names, logos and organizations. But despite the ever-changing, shifty nature of international business, or maybe just because of it, our customers tend to come back to us for another exhibition, for another stand. We think that the reason is fairly simple: If there’s one thing they can trust, it’s Tomexpo.
