Arbeit aus der kani Handbuchbinderei Nidau (enthält Werbung):

Alt-Bauer und alt-Nationalrat Heinz Schwab aus Lobsigen-Ruchwil hat mit seinem "Ein Bauernleben auf dem Frienisberg" eine spannende Chronik über seine Region rund um den Frienisberg geschrieben. In meiner Handbuchbinderei habe ich das Buch für ihn komplett vom Layout bis hin zum fertig gebundenen Buch umgesetzt. Es ist also eine reine "Seeland" Produktion, was für den Autoren auch sehr wichtig war.

Auf den über 300 Seiten werden viele Erinnerungen an Gespräche und Erlebnisse der letzten 120 Jahre festgehalten. Es ist einerseits eine nostalgische Reise in eine Zeit vor der Digitalisierung und spiegelt das Bauernleben rund um die Entstehung von Käsereigenossenschaften, der Zuckerfabrik Aarberg, den beiden Weltkriegen, der Veränderung in der Technik vom Ackerbau und Viehzucht sowie dem Holzabbau in der Region. Schwab, der selber auch in der Kavallerie diente, hat aber auch ein Auge für Pferde und deren Aufzucht und erzählt auch hier verschiedene Anekdoten zum Thema.

Im November 2020 erstmals erschienen, konnte ich in meinem Atelier bisher vier Auflagen des Hardcovers drucken und binden. Zu beziehen beim Autor selber, also nicht im Buchhandel erhältlich.

Babycard for announcing the arrival of Louis. Designed by the mother herself, printed by yours truly on made of pure cotton. Using a pantone neon green ink with bespoke edge color in matching neon of my own making. A lovely card with a fresh breeze vibe. On the other side I printed further details including a text and mounted a photo of the young world citizen.

After a busy spring, which sort of got smashed to bits by the pandemic, I have more time to share recent projects with you. I did a lot of books and bookdesign recently, this being one of them.

WASSER featuring art by Heinz-Peter Kohler hpk and a foreword by Ruedy Schwyn.

He’s a pioneer of watercolor art in Switzerland for over 60 years.
Handbound piccolo with a smart sleeve. This is a small book showing the pieces at their original size (hpk does a lot of large - up to 2x2 metres - work).

Recently, my brother married the love of his life - and I was allowed to create their consisting of the invitation, RSVP card and thank-you note, as well as provide the necessary envelopes already addressed. Here’s a look at this elegant set made in and with . This a card where the text was at the center of attention and thus the ornaments are muted and printed without ink in the corners only.

From the kani bookbindery: bespoke work for the renowned Swiss artist Heinz-Peter Kohler (www.hpkohler.ch) who has asked me to create cases and documentation for his recent body of work. September will also see the publication of two new volumes - handbound by yours truly - containing selections from the last 35 years.

Working with cardboard and linen, the casings are simple and rough. The cardboard frames are handcut, too.
