Happy to share the recording story behind this song:

Allen Clapp "Fair warning: this song will absolutely get stuck in your head. After all, it's called "Outta My Head," and it does what it says. I love so much about this. But really, it was just super fun to record.
I had just taken delivery of a small format mixer from Schertler Acoustics to test out their whole "no negative feedback" design. We put it to use right away on the rhythm guitars on this track. The band wanted a disco dancefloor groove, so I thought we should hear the part just straight into the board with no effects, no amps, no mics. We can always re-amp later, right? So, we put down the first track, and it sounded pretty darn good. Then we added the accented melodic take an octave up, and pushed the input a little.
Wow. It was an instant thrill. Suddenly the energy was there. It was clean, but hot. Sounds like VOLTAGE, not distortion. Talk of re-amping and effects just went right out the window. We built the track around those guitars. I don't think my 90s Strat has ever sounded so cool. Then again it was being played by a guy who can play 100x better than me so there's that.
That's just a tiny bit of why this is such a fun song. Congrats to Mother Goat USVI, Jalil Jahantab (who sings lead here and wrote the thing), Jared Warren and Taylor Lissandrello. Give it a listen, but don't forget: you have been warned!"
