After moving to Switzerland in 2013, we realized how stunningly beautiful it is here. We opened Digital Glarus – a Co-Working Space in the heart of the Glarnerland where everyone can work, eat or sleep whenever they need to. But we w

ere not finished yet. We thought: “What if we could establish an IT-Valley in Glarus?” Of course we cannot do this by ourselves, but we can create the right conditions for other companies to join us. Our current project is to open a datacenter that is affordable for everyone: Datacenter Light. There is still a lot to come. Join us in our mission!

With our first-hand experience of running datacenters, we are opening . It is a 5-days course with 6 hours of learning per day. It happens in the beautiful Villa Diesbach right in the nature. And it is happening next week.(!!)

Yesterday the 9th Glarner was hosted at Data Center Light. Our Nico Schottelius shared our story of pushing in the small mountain canton of . 🏔🌲🌱

We first started by opening up the first space of the canton. 🏠🏞We envisioned a place for digital workers to come and be inspired and recharged. 🕶🤖💻🛏🛋

In the first year of opening the affordable coworking/coliving space for students and digital workers, we received about 120 applications. The house became quickly full, in the meantime we started to convert one floor of the coworking space into a prototype.🌱🔧😎

Thanks to the local and international support for our crowdfunding, we expanded our datacenter (https://datacenterlight.ch) into a great old factory hall in Linthal with an in-house hydro power plant. Technology met sustainability. 😍💦😙⚡️

As our first coworking space became full, we converted a great hotel from the 1800s into a coworking/coliving space for digital workers. Diesbach was born.🌎🌸🏫🎡🎊

Our story continues. building a place of creativity and inspiration for digital workers, backed by great digital infrastructure. All run by 100% energy and reused old buildings. While enjoying and protecting the breathtaking nature. 😘🐧🌳⚡️✨💻
