Many travel accounts tell you NOT to visit Toronto in February but we did it anyways!
… and it was totally worth it!

Last year we decided to visit the modern metropole in the southeast of Canada during the off season, in Winter. With its nearly three million inhabitants Toronto is the most populous city in Canada and the capital city of the province of Ontario.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
An aquatic complex with 5.7 million liters of fresh and salt water, filled with fish and other creatures from all around the globe.

Brewery & Roundhouse
At the local craft brewery named they produce their own tasty Premium Pilsner, located directly in the John Street Roundhouse building at Roundhouse Park, right next to the CN Tower. In front of the roundhouse there’s a beautiful graffiti version of the painting "A John Street Morning" by .

St. Lawrence Market
Between the brick walls of the famous St. Lawrence Market you find lots of delicious local food and small shops filled with many different goods.

CN Tower

The view from the 553.3 meters high communications and observation tower in downtown Toronto is just magnificent. This concrete building was completed in 1976 and is located next to the famous Rogers Centre (originally SkyDome), home to the Toronto Blue Jays (a baseball hall with a gigantic openable roof).

Union Station

Bata Shoe Museum
On its many floors with individual exhibitions the is an interesting place to spot some extraordinary and very rare designs from the shoe industry.

Airbnb at 3 am
Due to some party people who were smoking there was a fire alarm and the whole building had to be evacuated!

Niagara Falls (Canadian border)
A group of three waterfalls spanning the border between the Canadian province of Ontario and the state of New York in the United States of America.

Casa Loma
To be honest I did not expect this tourist attraction to be that … We spent some hours in there and where surprised by a huge Wurlitzer organ, hidden behind walls and doors of this look-like-a-castle mansion from the 1920’s.

Canadian International AutoShow 2023
The is a huge exposition with cars in the heart of Toronto, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre . Fun fact: We bumped into this expo by accident at our last evening of our vacation! We came across the location by using the Path (a pedestrian corridor system trough the centre of Toronto) and where surprised by the many visitors heading home.

Nathan Phillips Square
This instagramable city square forms the forecourt to Toronto City Hall, the seat of the municipal government of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and one of the city's most distinctive landmarks, designed by architect Viljo Revell. During the winter months, the reflecting pool in front of the modernist building is converted into an ice rink for ice skating.

klang—the enjoyment for all senses

What is 'klang'?
klang [the German word for "sound"] is
a Swiss concert series with chamber music, performed live in Meggen and Zurich. The concerts take place every year between Christmas and New Year's Eve and during a weekend in summer, since 2006.
Thanks to the artistic direction by clarinettist and the management by Roland Meier, 'klang' became a recurring event on the regional classical music scene.

© The current corporate design of 'klang' is
created by Filip with F — Graphic Design

Music is full of colour
The klang logo was created as a redesign in 2016 and updated later with an adjusted colour palette. By incorporating the same diverse colour tones the unique QR code links visually to the logo. The twelve related shades of colour stand for the twelve semitones of the western music scheme, as well as they represent the twelve months of the year. As the concerts take place in December and July, the referring colour shades are the opposing colours 'F sharp' and 'C' on the colour wheel (as shown on the fifth slide).

Due to my anticipation of going to Andalusia for vacation, I designed my own version of the andalusian state flag (established in 1981).
“Andalucía” (original spanish name) is an autonomous community in the south of Spain, with “Sevilla” (“Seville” in English) as its capital city.

1. own design of the andalusian flag
2. original state flag of Andalusia (source: Wikimedia)
3. own design with additional title
4. monochrome variation in white
5. example of the variation as a watermark

I kept the original green and white colours of the flag (as well as its proportions), representing hope and peace, but simplified the emblem element in the middle by replacing the golden (yellow) parts with green and leaving out Hercules, the two lions and the maximes.

Recently I left my former employer Secura Helvetica, found out essential things about myself, turned thirty two weeks ago and started to learn a new skill, I didn’t tackle for too long.

This almost blooming sunflower near the place I live caught my attention and I absolutely love how the photography turned out! The way the pistile starts to unfold itself (yet hiding the characteristic yellow petals of the sunflower), embeded by the blurry surroundings in brown and green remind me somehow of my current situation.
For those who took the effort to read the caption please write “Bloom!” in your comment—thanks! 🌱🌻🌿

Some impressions of my 2021:

1. In February Jasmine () and I moved to Bülach, Zürich. After a long search we managed to find a beautiful and very spacious flat—we love it here!
Again many thanks to Raymond () for the awesome photographies we personalized our flat with.

2. I’ve got the opportunity to do a lovely book project. It is a journey captured in paintings and words by Stephan Hänggeli (who also is a violinist by the way) on 136 pages. The german title means «the entire year». Ironically, it took me almost an entire year to design this collection of art. The format is 30 × 30 cm.

3. In July our dear friends Eveline and Pavel () celebrated their beautiful wedding. They asked us to contribute to the ceremony by playing some romantic music—it was a pleasure! Also they looked just great!

4. Later that month we were invited to Zermatt to do some hiking together with Hansruedi. The scenery of the landscape there is quite unique so we enjoyed these few days and also caught some sunlight.

5. Since Jasmine and I share an apartment both of us take care of her pond turtles. These four little living beings do have total individual personalities and love to have a swim in the brook nearby.

6. By the end of August we travelled to Belgium and visited Brussels, Bruges and Ghent. We where surprised by the beauty of the historical city centers and tasted a lot of local beers.

7. After returning to Switzerland I finished a book design for Christian Zatta (). He is a talented guitarist, composer and guitar teacher who wrote a textbook on how to practice efficiently when you learn a musical instrument and want to make the most of it.

8. In September I started working for Secura Helvetica as a graphic designer. It is a young and fast growing consultancy company for financial topics in Switzerland. We have a challenging vision: Restore faith in the financial sector by revolutionizing the field.

Just for fun I created this symbol [SFr] representing the currency Swiss Francs, internationally more common as CHF. I dressed it up as a stamp—any thoughts?
