Friday Fun with some letters and my son.

Today I had the opportunity to facilitate a raised letter sign on an accent wall for Dr. Park Family Dentistry.

This 53 character wall required mapping out with a die-cut stencil and some precise levelling with good measure. Once the die-cut template was in place it was time to finesse the high-tac letters into their form. This is truly a 2-person application to perform smoothly.

The final step requires removing the template and the satisfying peel and reveal of the black gloss finish 1/4" character.

The overall look and contrast is very sleek and striking. Hopefully more of these to come in the future. If you like what you see drop me a line to inquire. Many colour options and logos as well.

A Design Retro Re-wind ...

In December of 2010 some 16 years ago ... I was commissioned by the Parks of St. Lawrence to create a logo commemorating the
Bicentennial Alliance of the War of 1812.

I was in Gananoque last week to celebrate my wife's birthday. As we filled in time before dinner we decided to take a tour of the boat museum. I was surprised to see a sticker on an old wooden trunk that displayed a logo I had designed during my career.

That logo is still present in the museum at Fort Henry National Historic Site. (UNESCO World Heritage Site) The Bicentennial identity was used for many tourist driven incentives surrounding the 200 year milestone.

I had to dig out my portfolio and review the pieces which included multiple information flyers of events, a fold-out map as well as post cards.

It was a project that I fondly remember and most certainly proud of to this day. Sometimes all the pieces fit just right, and this was certainly that project.

A logo with longevity relies on simplicity, timelessness, and adaptability. By avoiding fleeting trends and focusing on clean ex*****on, a design can remain relevant and instantly recognizable for decades.

A successful logo connects meaningfully with its audience and industry, rather than trying to be universally liked by everyone.

Now that the nice weather is finally here, there is the increased need to advertise for your business or service.

Part of staying fresh and engaged in your skills requires you to sometimes dip your toe into the pool of "unfamiliar." I have dabbled with helmets and decals before but each time out I push the bar a little further.

This is a fun project piece that is for a fellow firefighter who is honing his own skills. Shoutout to Stone Mills FireFit.

The design incorporates a tribute to Karam's military roots as well as his station fire number. The Sweet reference is the theme music that should accompany each of Karam's entrances. Insert Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" or in this case ... "Sweet Karam Byne."

This helmet is heading back for a clear coat finish and will soon be making a debut at a race course that boasts the toughest 2 minutes in sports. More updates to follow.

Any day that you get to unveil a finished project with a client is one of pride and excitement. Today I had that opportunity with Jacob Detlor, Project Manager & Building Inspector for Stone Mills Township. Beek Designs along with Jacob planned and created signage for the local cemeteries to act as historic monuments.

These new signs will adorn and represent the final resting place for those from our local area. Including some early settlers from The United Empire Loyalists.

The signs will be in place within the coming month. More photos to follow.
