The cost to run a truck just went up again.

ATRI's 2026 benchmarking report puts the average cost to operate a commercial motor vehicle at $2.336 per mile: a 3.4% increase, or 7.6 cents per mile, over 2024.

And here's a number that doesn't get talked about enough: driver detention now averages 1 hour and 49 minutes per stop.

That's almost two hours per stop where a truck isn't moving, isn't earning, and isn't delivering. Multiply that across a week of stops and it's not a rounding error. It's a real hit to productivity and margin, on top of rising fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs.

If you're building rates, budgeting for next year, or just trying to explain to a shipper why the number on the page looks different than it did in 2024, this is the data to point to.

LinkedIn just rolled out a "Seems like AI Slop" button so users can flag posts they think are AI-generated.

If a post feels AI-generated, you can now flag it with a "Seems like AI Slop" report option. It seems like a small feature, but it says people are tired of scrolling past thoughtless content churned out by generative AI and that the public have a say in what the platform will look like.

We think about this a lot, because it's how we work.

If you've ever worked with us you'd know that every website, app, and social post we create is designed by real humans. Truthfully, we do use AI to help us brainstorm and work more efficiently. But the visual design is thoughtfully built by our human designers, and all text is edited by a real person before it goes out. We even try to avoid AI generated images. (But due to how prevalent it is in stock imagery, it still falls through the cracks. We are human, after all.)

In transportation, we talk a lot about ELDs, telematics, safety, and compliance…

But here’s something many carriers forget:

Your fleet is only as secure as the people (and accounts) that have access to your systems.

Access management controls who can get into your systems, what they can see, and how they authenticate. Your digital gatekeeper.

Even if a password gets stolen (in trucking, that happens more often than people realize) specific access controls stop attackers from waltzing in.

Your fleet data is valuable.
Routing information, customer details, cross-border documents, fuel data, and payroll are all targets for cybercriminals.

What good access management looks like:
— Multi-factor authentication for all devices in the office and on the road
— Role-based access
— Routine system audits to remove old or inactive accounts
— Network segmentation (fleet systems / admin systems)

None of these require much resources but all of them significantly improve your security posture.

Someone reads a comparison thread on Reddit. A coworker mentions your product in a Slack channel you're not in. A prospect asks ChatGPT to summarize your competitors, or gets a recommendation in a group chat you'll never see. None of that shows up in Google Analytics. By the time that person actually lands on your site and fills out a form, they've often already made up their mind.

That's the dark funnel: all the research, word-of-mouth, and quiet influence that shapes a buying decision.

A lot of marketing teams build their whole strategy only around what they can measure, which means they end up ignoring the part of the journey that actually moves people to buy.

You can't fully track the dark funnel, and honestly, you're not supposed to. But you can show up in it by building a real presence in the communities where people talk about you, earning genuine reviews, and treating word-of-mouth as a channel worth investing in on purpose.

If your product gets talked about anywhere you don't control, that's marketing happening.
