Valley Fiber

Valley Fiber Valley Fiber provides ultra-fast and reliable internet for your home and business. Homegrown fiber. Manitoba‑owned and operated.

Valley Fiber Limited was incorporated in December of 2016 and is based out of Winkler Manitoba. The architect of the service is Hank Wall. Hank is the CEO of Valley Fiber and brings with him years of experience founding and operating Valley Internet Service Provider (VISP) along with many years of advanced networking knowledge. It was through running VISP that Hank realized the technology available to transform the rural region's internet service. Somewhere right now, a turkey is in the oven, a pie is cooling, and someone is on a video call, holding their plate up to the screen.

Some of the people we’re thankful for will be at the table today. Others will be a few hours down the highway, or a few provinces over.

However you gather, we hope it feels close.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Valley Fiber.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a call to action, not just reflection.

Today, we encourage our staff and those in the communities we serve to:

🧡 Wear orange to honour children who never returned home, the Survivors and their families

📚 Learn about the history and legacy of residential schools

🤝 Commemorate by participating in gatherings and events across Manitoba

Valley Fiber operates across Treaties 1, 2, 3 and 5, and we're committed to strengthening our relationships with Indigenous communities as we grow.

This is one step on an ongoing journey.

Today we were proud to be in Fisher River Cree Nation to celebrate the announcement of the next phase of our multi-year fiber internet expansion to over 10,000 rural and Manitoban homes, including six First Nations communities.

We started by connecting a handful of farms that couldn’t get reliable internet – and that local solution turned into a province-wide mission. We are beyond excited to connect more and more of our neighbours to the network made by Manitobans, for Manitobans.

August in Manitoba does not look like anywhere else.

In St. Pierre-Joly , the streets fill up with lawn chairs, the smell of a community supper, and the kind of crowd that drives in from hours away just to watch a frog jump. The Folies Grenouilles | Frog Follies has been going since before most people reading this were born. That kind of staying power does not happen by accident.

Thirty-five minutes east of Winnipeg, the Richer Rough Stock Rodeo takes over Dawson Trail Park for a weekend of bull riding, mutton busting, a Saturday night concert, and a pancake breakfast that draws a lineup by 8am. A small town opening itself up to thousands of visitors and pulling it off, year after year.

In Winkler, where Valley Fiber got its start and still calls home, the Harvest Festival brings free admission, a midway, a parade down the main street, and live music three nights running. The fairgrounds have looked like this every August since most of us can remember.

Then at the end of the month, Morden shuts down Stephen Street for the Corn and Apple festival. Free corn, free apple juice, 80,000 people over three days, and The Tea Party headlining the main stage on Saturday night. It started in 1967 as a Canada Centennial celebration and it has never really stopped.

Up in Ashern, the Ashern Rodeo tradition keeps going the way it always has. Street dance, fireworks, covered grandstands, and a community that still does this because it means something.

Fall comes early around here. We're making the most of what is left.

Which one are you getting to this month?
