At Opreto, we recently introduced a VTO (Volunteer Time Off) program!

For those unfamiliar, VTO gives team members dedicated paid time to volunteer within their communities and support causes that matter to them.

This week, Ashley Tower and Sarah Cashaback spent time volunteering with the Welcome Centre Shelter for Women and Families helping with data entry and storage room organization.

Community impact doesn’t always have to look massive to matter.

Sometimes it’s simply creating the time and space for people to show up and help where they can.

We’re proud to support initiatives that encourage community involvement and give our team opportunities to make a meaningful impact outside of day-to-day work.

Most analytics stacks weren't built with AI in mind. That gap is becoming a real problem for teams trying to move fast.

On May 13, our own Xavier Spriet is teaming up with Giuseppe Fidelibus from the Sisense team to talk about what it actually takes to close it, without rebuilding from scratch.

No demo reel. No vendor pitch. Just a real implementation walkthrough and honest answers to the questions mid-market teams are running into.

What you'll walk away with:
→ What AI-ready analytics really requires at the infrastructure level
→ How Sisense Compose SDK lets you modernize without starting over
→ A free AI Analytics Readiness Assessment guide from Opreto

Built for technical and executive leaders, modernizing a data stack or shipping AI-driven products.

You won't want to miss this!

A few of our team members spent some time working remotely from a brewery yesterday 🍻

Ashley Tower, Alan Laudicina, and Dylan Herbert spent a few hours working together, laptops open, conversations flowing, and a really nice change from the usual setup.

At Opreto, we care a lot about creating an environment where people can do their best work, and sometimes that means stepping outside of the routine.

Whether it’s working from home, collaborating in person, or switching things up for a few hours, we try to keep things flexible and human.

There’s something about changing the environment that brings a different kind of energy to the day.

Most systems aren’t built for regulation. They’re adapted to it.

In industries like cannabis production, that approach breaks quickly.

Compliance, traceability, and operational continuity all need to function together, not as afterthoughts.

We’re continuing to work with teams in these environments to build systems that scale under regulatory pressure, not around it.

03/25/2026

Integration challenges in industrial environments don’t show up during deployment.

They show up when things start scaling.

As throughput increases, systems that once “worked” begin to break under pressure. Robotics, data, and workflows drift out of sync.

That’s where domain-specific integration experience becomes the difference between maintaining momentum…and constantly firefighting.

Where have you seen integration challenges show up most? During deployment, or once things start scaling?

When someone mentions a ticket in a meeting, what happens next?

Usually someone has to:

🔹 open Jira
🔹 search the ticket
🔹 paste the link
🔹 explain the context

MeetIQ surfaces that information instantly during the conversation.

No tab switching required.

Automation has been chasing the wrong goal.

For more than a decade, the robotics and automation world has been pursuing the same vision: full autonomy.

Self-driving cars.
Fully autonomous factories.
Humanoid robots replacing human labour.

But the reality has been more complicated.

Physical environments are messy.
Data is incomplete.
Human intentions change constantly.

Despite massive advances, many autonomous systems still deliver incremental gains rather than the transformative shifts we were promised.

At Opreto, we believe the bigger opportunity may lie somewhere else: collaborative automation.

Systems where humans and machines each do what they do best.

Later this week, we’re publishing a blog exploring why the future of automation may depend less on replacing people and more on designing systems that work with them.

Stay tuned.

Managing your time is hard, but it’s the cornerstone of personal and professional success. Without a structured approach to time management, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by tasks and commitments. This overwhelming feeling often increases stress, reduces productivity, and causes the dreaded overload-induced task dropping.

💻✨ Anyone who has ever purchased software is aware that it must be updated occasionally to a new release, with new features and security and performance updates.

The moment a codebase stops changing, it becomes vulnerable to software rot; a gradual decline in responsivity and updates with respect to the changing environment in which it resides.

In order to resist this tendency, software should be designed like a biologically immortal organism.

Find out why software should be like a jellyfish.

Anyone who has ever purchased software is aware that it must be updated occasionally to a new release, with new features and security and performance updates. And anyone with a huge reliance on the work facilitated by that software is acquainted with reading changelogs to stay current with changes t...
