AI, or Artificial Intelligence, refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, primarily computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (using rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction. AI encompasses a broad range of techniques, from simple if-then rules to complex algorithms modeled after the human brain. Machine learning, a subset of AI, enables computers to learn from data without being explicitly programmed. Deep learning, a further subset, involves neural networks with many layers, capable of learning complex patterns in large amounts of data. AI applications range from virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa to self-driving cars, medical diagnosis systems, and advanced robotics. Ethical considerations surrounding AI include concerns about job displacement, biases in algorithms, privacy issues, and the potential for misuse in surveillance or autonomous weaponry. Despite challenges, AI continues to advance rapidly, transforming industries and reshaping society's relationship with technology.
