THE STATE OF PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY: WE ARE TIME TRAVELLERS
The art a professional photographer creates is more than an image. It becomes part of someone’s history.
For generations, families brought rolls of film to the local photomat, collected their prints and built albums. Many of those albums are still with us—holding the faces, stories and memories of people we love.
Today, we take more photographs than ever, but so many remain on phones or in digital galleries. Creating a family album no longer happens automatically.
That makes the professional photographer’s role so important.
I think of photographers as time travellers—people who stop time so others can return to a moment long after it has passed.
As our industry changes, we need to help clients understand the lasting value of that work. A thoughtfully made album or printed photograph gives future generations something they can hold, share and discover.
At UAF Photo Lab, we’re proud to help photographers give those moments a physical home.
Someday, someone will open an album and meet a grandparent they never knew. The work we create today can make that connection possible.
