Ok, no. They're overreacting. It's not 5 years old, it's much older. We're talking about windows XP pre-SP3, OSX 10.4, Firefox 26, iOS 2.0... So basically anything that's less than 10 years old and has been properly updated is still good.
A lot of noise and paranoia for nothing, though it will indeed affect the third world badly, as they still rely on pretty old technology, and it definitely kills the powerPC macs...
