Facility-wide assessment of occupational exposure to dust, noise, and formaldehyde

The objective of this study was to demonstrate that a small team can cost-effectively measure all workers’ exposures to multiple hazards within a facility in a single day while minimizing participant burden and loss of productivity.

Exposure to particulate matter, hazardous gases, and noise among workers causes millions of deaths, injuries, and disabilities annually. These exposures are not measured frequently, and most workers are never monitored because resources for monitoring are limited globally. Even in high-income countr...

If your lone worker safety program relies on someone remembering to manually check on home healthcare workers, it’s already flawed.

Healthcare workers can face violence, unpredictable environments, and emergencies alone. Outdated, manual check-in processes aren’t enough anymore.

Safety Tip of the Week ⚠️

“Heat stress can escalate quickly for lone workers; especially when nobody is nearby to spot the warning signs.”

- Hydrate regularly throughout the day
- Plan demanding/high-energy tasks for cooler parts of the day if possible
- Use check-ins to monitor worker safety
- Look for dizziness, fatigue, headaches, or confusion
- Create emergency plans for remote or high-heat environments

Hope everyone had a great week.

Why your disability management program doesn’t need to be complicated to work

"The best disability management systems combine enough rigour to function with enough humanity to remember why they exist in the first place. That balance is harder to achieve than it sounds, and rarer than it should be."
