❄️ We really like how this recent Iceland photograph came together!

Printed at 23 × 34.5 inches, we mounted this archival pigment print to UltraMount and finished it in a clean white wood frame with AR70 anti-reflective glazing. The understated white frame works beautifully with the cool tones of the glacier and gives the finished piece a crisp, contemporary feel.

A simple presentation that lets the photograph do the work!

Thanks, Debbie, for trusting us with this one.

✨ Push-Up (2026), is from John Goldsmith’s new series, The Playground. The series considers spaces shaped by both possibility and constraint, and the ways memory and experience shape what we see and remember. In Push-Up, colour separates, edges misalign, and the image begins to slide. What first appears fixed becomes less certain, reflecting the way memory can feel partial, layered, and unstable.

The piece brings together archival pigment printing, layered photographic imagery, precise registration, an LED lightbox, acrylic, and a custom solid ash enclosure with ash spacers. The photographic layers are intentionally separated, allowing colour, light, and the image itself to shift as the work is viewed from different positions.

Push-Up also explores the intersection of RGB and CMYK, bringing emitted light and printed colour together in the same object.

The project was printed and constructed at PrintMaker Studio, with the custom ash box fabricated in collaboration with Duncan MacCallum. Many thanks to Duncan for working through the details with us and helping get the enclosure just right!

For artists interested in custom presentation or box construction for photographic work, come talk to us. We’re always happy to explore how the physical object can become part of the artwork.

Two beautiful works by Dana Mulder.

Dana will be exhibiting at this year’s Vancouver Kelp Festival, and we had the pleasure of working with her on the presentation of these two pieces.

The first is a cyanotype on a beautiful, substantial paper and deckled edges, measuring 24⅛ × 32¼ inches. We float framed the work in a white wood frame with museum glazing, allowing the paper and its edges to remain fully visible.

The second is an 11 × 14 inch archival pigment print we made with our Epson Pro12 printer on watercolour paper, float framed in a 13 × 16 inch natural wood frame with museum glazing.

Thank you for trusting us with your work, Dana, and congratulations on being part of this year’s festival!

See Dana’s work at Vancouver Kelp Festival on August 23.

☀️ Protecting artwork is part of preserving its story.

This textile came to us showing the effects of years of exposure to light, air and dust. The original paper backing had also deteriorated and torn, leaving the work more vulnerable to further damage.

We carefully removed surface dust and physical contaminants, then reframed the piece with Museum Glass featuring UV protection and anti-reflective properties, helping reduce harmful light exposure while allowing the subtle detail of the textile to remain visible.

On the reverse, the damaged paper backing was replaced with our durable Coroplast backing system, which offers much better protection against punctures, moisture and everyday wear.

The fading already present in the textile cannot be reversed, but proper framing can help slow further deterioration.

That’s really the goal of conservation framing: not just making artwork look good today, but helping protect it for the years ahead.

Whether it’s a textile, photograph, print, drawing or another type of artwork, we’re always happy to talk about the best way to protect and present it.

Protect your artwork. Preserve what matters.

✨ Custom solutions, developed around the artwork.

PrintMaker Studio was built around a simple idea: fine art printing should not be a black box. We make the process transparent and collaborative, sharing practical, project-specific guidance on file preparation, colour, paper, test printing, mounting, framing and presentation.

We also share this knowledge through workshops, community events and artist mixers, creating opportunities for artists to learn, exchange ideas and better understand the possibilities of print.

Shown here is a custom-made wood presentation box designed and constructed specifically for the artwork it holds. Paper, scale, mounting, framing and construction are not treated as afterthoughts. Together, they shape how the work is encountered and help communicate its complete narrative.

As a Canson Infinity Certified Print Lab, we work with artists at every stage of their practice, as well as collectors, galleries, museums and cultural institutions. Each project receives a highly personalized approach, whether it requires archival fine art printing, custom framing or an entirely original presentation solution.

We also offer accessible and affordable options, including a curated line of ready-made frames in both wood and metal. From straightforward framing to fully customized presentations, we help each client find a solution suited to the artwork, its purpose and their budget.

Every project begins with a conversation about the artwork, its intended experience and how best to bring that vision into physical form.
