Thank you to everyone for coming out to support us and to check out our BRAND NEW showroom - we are super proud and excited to get this built out (took a long time to get everything built but we did it!) and make a cool and welcoming space for our clients and customers. We also celebrated our 20th anniversary in business - our birthday was in October but with the move to the new location we didn't want to celebrate that milestone and then move to our current offices.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED!!!

As discussed previously 80 Plus rated PSU’s are the preferred power supply unit but 80 Plus isn’t the end of the scale. Beyond the 80 Plus designation is Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium ratings – all of which are greater than 80 % efficiency. The chart below provides a good example of how heat-to-power efficiency each designation level provides. Bronze, Silver, and Gold are very common designations to find and are increasingly used in desktop computers from simple machines to gaming machines. Platinum and Titanium designations are still typically only found in higher end Workstation class PC’s and in Servers where either significant power is required for the internal components or long run times are expected.

Power Supply Units (PSUs) provide all the power to a desktop computer and all of its individual components. A PSU comes with all of the available connectors to connect any standardized internal components that need power – this can come either with fixed connectors or modular connectors. Modular PSU’s have a limited number of hard connected power cables and several “connectable” cables to add only the number of connectors necessary for your devices. Modular PSU’s are aesthetically pleasing for machines that have a side window to view the end result. PSU’s come in multiple power ratings – from as low as 250 watts to well over 1500 watts. Depending on the configuration of the computer determines what type of power supply it needs.

Some Power Supply Units (PSUs) come with an 80 Plus rating – what does this mean? PSU efficiency – the amount of power the PSU outputs vs the wattage drawn from the wall socket – is an important characteristic to consider when looking at PSUs. 80 Plus is a designation that a PSU receives for having atleast 80% efficiency at 20%, 50% and 100% power loads. This efficiency is based on how much power drawn from the wall is wasted as heat during the conversion process to power the computer components. 80 Plus rated PSU’s represent the bulk of power supplies available today.
