This month, we’re celebrating the birthday of the scientist Kepler is named after: astronomer and mathematician Johannes Kepler! Born in 1571, Johannes became a pioneer in space due to his incredible scientific contributions, including the creation of the three laws of planetary motion.

Kepler landed in Bangkok this week as Wen Cheng Chong, our Senior Advisor and Co-Founder, participated on a panel at the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council Satellite Conference 2024!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the discussion on “The Path to Seeing the Light: Checking in on Development of Optical Communication Networks,” where Wen discussed The Kepler Network and how Kepler is building the Internet for Space through optical data relay to support the growing civil and commercial markets around the world.

The ESA - European Space Agency has selected Kepler as the prime contractor to lead development of the low Earth orbit segment of the High Throughput Optical Network (HydRON) program!

Kepler will collaborate with ESA to leverage The Kepler Network to achieve ESA’s goal of delivering ‘fibre in the sky’ optical technology, and demonstrate a high capacity, low latency data transport system in low Earth orbit.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), Kepler is highlighting key individuals from Hispanic and Latin American communities who have heavily influenced or impacted the space industry.

Franklin R. Chang Diaz (Ph.D.): became the first Hispanic astronaut when NASA selected him in 1980. Over seven space flights, Diaz logged in more than 1,500 hours in space, including 19 hours during spacewalks.

Ellen Ochoa (Ph.D.): was the first female Hispanic astronaut to fly in space, spending nearly 1,000 hours in space during four Shuttle missions. Ochoa is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Harvard Foundation Science Award, Women in Aerospace’s Outstanding Achievement Award, and the Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award, and more.

We are excited to announce that Kepler has officially entered into a Space Act Agreement with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Communications Services Project.

This partnership will allow Kepler to collaborate with NASA to determine current and future on-orbit capabilities and provide meaningful space-relay demonstrations for key NASA mission use cases.
