Introducing Bonsai Book Club! Team is launching a new after work virtual book club open to friends, family and our community at-large. That means anyone is welcome to join (DM me if interested with your email and we’ll add you to the private Slack channel). You’ll get to hang out with me and some of the really bright people on the Bonsai team. The first book we’ll be reading is called Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. The Pulitzer Prize–winning, bestselling author of The Warmth of Other Suns examines the unspoken caste system that has shaped America and shows how our lives today are still defined by a hierarchy of human divisions. The goal of the club is to focus on personal intellectual development (meaning that we won’t really be focused on reading books like The Lean Startup, but instead books that shape our view of the world around us). Part of our objective is also to select authors that are underrepresented or up-and-coming. We hope to invite authors for Q&As and expert panelists to help improve the quality of discussions.

Meet Leo! He is one of our newest additions to the team as a Senior Product Manager, helping to make an even better experience. Leo joins us from a product management and engineering background and in his previous role got to meet and work with 2 of his favourite recording artists🎤 When he’s not managing products, Leo hangs at his favourite coffee shop every Sunday and is a frequent traveller to Japan. We’re super excited to have him join us!

Happy Pride month from the team at Bonsai. A reminder as we’re in Pride month that pride wasn't always a celebration and parades. The Stonewall uprising led by q***r and trans people of colour helped pave the way for the LGBTQ+ community.

For Pride month Bonsai donated boxes of Harry’s razors and shaving cream to the Trans* toolkits collective. The Trans* toolkits collective support trans*, two-spirit and non-binary people get access to gender essential items to those impacted by the pandemic. They need donations to continue running this essential service so we’ve included a link in our bio to their site with details on how you can help them.
