Strong communities are built when we come together for a shared purpose. 💙

Last week, we were proud to join industry peers at TELUS Swing for a Cure 2026, an initiative of the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, in support of the fight against breast cancer across Canada.

The event was a meaningful opportunity to step beyond our day-to-day business, strengthen relationships within our community, and come together around a cause that impacts many Canadians.

Since 2010, TELUS Swing for a Cure has contributed more than $410,000 toward Canadian Cancer Society breast cancer initiatives, helping support research, early detection initiatives, and vital patient support services.

At Telehouse Canada, we believe being part of a community also means showing up, getting involved, and contributing to positive change. We’re proud to support initiatives that bring people together and create meaningful impact beyond our industry.

Welcome back to our FAQ series, where we answer some of the questions we hear most often.

❓Question: Can a data centre be sustainable and high-density at the same time?

💡Answer: Yes, though it depends heavily on how the facility is cooled. As rack densities increase, so does the challenge of removing the heat generated by high-performance computing, AI, and GPU-based workloads. Traditional air-cooling systems often require significant energy to move and chill large volumes of air, which can impact overall efficiency as power densities rise.

Telehouse Canada's downtown Toronto data centres support high-density deployments through a combination of sustainable cooling infrastructure and advanced cooling technologies. Our facilities leverage Enwave's Deep Lake Water Cooling (DLWC) system, which uses the naturally cold temperature of Lake Ontario to provide an energy-efficient source of cooling, reducing reliance on traditional mechanical chilling plants.

To support AI and high-performance computing workloads, Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) removes heat directly from high-power CPUs and GPUs more efficiently than conventional air cooling. The thermal energy generated by these workloads is then transferred to Enwave's energy network, where it is recovered and repurposed to help warm the City of Toronto's drinking water, further contributing to sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency.
