Companies operating at that level of automation can often produce faster, operate at lower costs, and respond to customers more quickly.

The implication goes beyond individual competitors. The bar for speed, reliability, and responsiveness has moved and mid-market companies are now being measured against that higher standard. Mid-market manufacturers are no longer competing only on product or price. They are being measured against competitors with faster production, lower operating costs, and quicker customer response.

In parts of Asia, manufacturing automation levels are two to four times higher than in North America, according to the International Federation of Robotics.
That gap changes the standard for speed, reliability, and responsiveness.
